A sparkling performance with perfect control and masterful articulation of the rhythmic drive that propels this Toccata to its thrilling conclusion - what a chord: bravo!
Perfect clef reading ❤
Fabulous Sam! I have the score but it scared me and haven't started it yet...
Very well played, tricky music! What sample set did you use?
Tricky piece but masterfully played by you.
A tricky pice with lots of detail in hands and feet. Well played.
Challenging music (in every sense) - and impressive to see you play from memory: bravo! The modernist harmonic language of this 1940 composition does not stop the piece being 'accessible', and I even sense some humour in the refreshing mixture of old and new running through the Bachian counterpoint.
Haunted...
Music born of the spirit: bravo!
Brilliant!
❤❤❤
At least the crickets are not singing in a different rhythm
Wow
Let's see and hear more of this marvellous instrument.
I hope to record some more before too long!
A good modern work. Thanks for putting in the time to learn it so that we have the opportunity to hear it.
Well done. Bottom of page 8!!
Good performance on a fine looking instrument.
I recognised the Abbotsleigh chapel straight away from the thumbnail 😅 Great playing Sam!
Thanks Alison!!
I take my hat off to anyone who can play this. A wonderful, poised and virtuosic performance throughout - bravo!
Awesome, virtuoso playing, Sam: bravo!
I love this piece. Nicely done.
Brings back memories for me as I played this many years ago. The five voice fugue is a stunner! Thank you, Sam.
Mendelssohn is so underrated. This fugue is just beautiful😊. Kudos to you champ
Thanks for listening!
Beautiful - crisp articulation and sparkling musicality: bravo!
Thank you Samuel.
Always those "When bla bla bla" jokers. Even here. Yuck!
Yuck indeed. Don't forget to subscribe for more exciting opportunities for profound syntactical critique!
I love 💕 pipe organ it is so very beautiful I can listen to it for hours. 😊
Glad you enjoy it!! I’ll be releasing a new recording every Friday for the rest of this year, so make sure to subscribe for more organ music!
beautiful close shot of pedaling
Great tempo and articulation for both the Prelude and the Fugue - a sparkling performance on this fabulous instrument: bravo!
Many years ago, you might remember me asking you what Bach to learn. You suggested the A minor. I did eventually learn it and I’m planning to resurrect it again to play in future concerts. Thanks for sharing your rendition. It’s fantastically rendered!
Покой мудрости .
Lovely piece of Mendelssohn that's not one of the 6 sonatas.
Beautiful playing, and I love the Flentrop sound!
When most of what is coming from Australia is rancid reaction,, I am pleased to celebrate you!. I was beginning to lose faith in Australia.
ok
Seeing/hearing this, I dare say, there is hope for the southern hemisphere! Wonderful performance. Lovely organ. Greetings from Canada.
Thanks for introducing me to a composer I haven’t heard before.
Thank you for introducing me to the organ music of August Hugo Distler. This is a remarkable composition and I was interested to read that his works are a re-invention of old forms and genres, rich with word painting, and often based on the music of Heinrich Schütz and other early composers. Distler's music is polyphonic and frequently melismatic, as well as often based on the pentatonic scale. Although his works remain 'tonally anchored', they nevertheless reveal 'an innovative harmonic sense' which resulted in his music being stigmatized by some Nazis as 'degenerate art'. How tragic that he committed suicide in 1942 at the age of 34 because he seemingly saw the futility of attempting to serve both God and Nazis. The American musicologist, Nick Strimple, stated in 2005 that this was probably how Distler "came to terms with his own conscience unequivocally".
very beautiful, what is the story behind this music
A vivid interpretation that' honoring both Vivaldi and JSB !
Fine performance, Samuel! I turn up the volume here on a good sound system, and the sound quality and the organ are fine! No worries. A note re the iPad- you do not need a page-turner for that. You can tell it to watch your face and when you twitch your mouth left or right it turns the page that direction.
Bravo!
FABULOUS - but too short!
The perfect combination: fantastic organ, fantastic composer, fantastic performer. Orgues Létourneau does it again! The performance made me giddy with delight!🤩❤
Lovely little prelude on this hymn tune.
What a sound ❤
A wonderful composition, Sam - bravo! The manual work with that rhythmic drive and contrasting pastoral harmonies works in a most attractive way with the 'Air' as a pedal solo. Impressive!
From The Netherlands: Bravo!
Indeed you can play the organ!!!
