These old bikes require a lot of maintenance. If you need to adjust the primary chain it's a total of 5 adjustments since everything is mechanical.

Nice work! One question - on adjusting the hub you could've just pulled the tube out right? No need to take the tire off again... edit: oh I see now...to clean and paint inside the rim. You sure made mounting that tire look easy. 😅I gave away my spoons years ago, swore never again. But on an OEM antique rim I wouldn't trust a machine. I like how you opened up the frame. It might creep back a little w/out the wheel installed but I'm sure you thought of that. Anyway nice work nice bike...looking forward to hearing that old knuckle rumble!
@@rcanoli99 yes to pain the inside of the rim. It was very easy to get the tire off the rim. The difficult tires are dirt bike tires. They suck!!
Ok so I put new rams on the side swing new hoses appeared to be same size filled oil started to move up and down tried side swing blew a new hose could rite and left swing hoses be reversed
That sounds like an over pressuring problem. If the side to side hoses are reversed it would only move in the opposite direction that it’s supposed to. There’s a valve that gets adjusted that relieves pressure once you hit the stop point of movement. If that’s not adjusted correctly you could easily over pressure the hose.
The E-57 plow pump is very close to the E-47 plow pump. This video may help you too. Rebuild of E-57 Meyers Snow Plow Pump Assembly th-cam.com/video/3vBLir_09I0/w-d-xo.html
To get it on a trueing stand the tire has to come off. There’s a gauge that rides on the inside of the rim to make sure it’s round and not egg shaped plus on on the outside edge to make sure it’s straight.
How do you know which hose goes were
@@dandoyle-rf9zn they are different sized hoses and can only go on one way.
Thanks for this really helpful. I just put an Ultima on my 76 FLH. I wasn't quite sure about the timing but this video cleared it all up. Cheers

That was very well explained and shown. This was such an important video to get these spaces right and I appreciate you taking the time to show and tell on how you did everything. This is one of those tasks thats not super sexy on the web but really important to get right and show us how to do it. Thanks
@@vk7408 Thank you so much. I wish I would’ve thought to use that line “Not super sexy”. That sums it up perfectly.
@@Rapsgarage Go back in and change your title. Not sexy but safe...you'll get more views
Good video. People should understand, things are never perfect, especially cool old thinks. Being able to tweek things to make them fit is something that's needed often. Retired industrial maintenance, so I've seen brand new things that didn't fit.

nice video didn't you originally had a snap ring after the aluminium part just before the last rubber seal?
Yes I did. I’m guessing that I didn’t show it being put back in. I haven’t watched a video in a long time.
Isn’t that paint only barely heat resistant? Bad choice. That paint is for accessories or bolt ons.

Great video, however I stated to watch this because intro picture shows Twin Power Oil Pump and I thought that this is good guide for it. Do you have any guide how to connect oil houses to Twin Power pump ? Thanks in advance.
I don’t have a video for a twin power pump however, I do have a video on the hose routing on a shovel head. That would pretty much be the same as an Evo.
TY, I have the same ignition and I'm trying to figure out the best advance curve to use. My bike is a 93 ci bored and stroked FXWG shovelhead with dual plug heads. I'm going with zero dead revs and curve 3 for now as it sets advance to 32 degrees. 28 to 32 degrees seems to be the consensus as to what advance to start with. Trial and error from there. Multiple factors determine what will work best for your bikes set-up. What's your opinion on which to use?
I would start out at 35° advanced unless you’re running a lot of compression. If you start to hear it ping then I would retard the timing to 32°. As for what curve I think I would go with curve number two that’s a little more aggressive.
I would only go with zero dead revs if it’s a kickstart bike if it’s not kickstart, then you definitely want the three dead revs that it comes with.
@@Rapsgarage TY. It's kick and elec start.
Definitely 0 dead revs. If you need your 2000i programmed, let me know
