This film looks to be an amazing visual spectacle. From the dialogue extracts I might love it or find it really annoying, it's hard to tell, so I will give it a go!

Just watched this movie for first time in over 50 years. Saw it on late night tv in 70 or 71 as a kid. I always remembered the kytusha rockets shooting over in the gloom. A really good movie on a mostly forgotten chapter of WW2.

Fantastico risate a non finire

Great scene and I felt emotional when the crowd stood and applauded. Bullfighting is cruel. But this film makes it seem exciting and dangerous. You have to be brave. I know people will write comments saying 🙄 oh it's brave to kill and torture an innocent animal. I get it. A good film is one that makes you think about, in this film, the sport, training, the chance of the bull goring the matador. A lot of people don't like violence or the sight of blood. I haven't seen it. I want to.

Giuliano Gemma looks the same as he did in the 60's!

I know it is supposed to be funny and stupid, but then again it makes you realize that all movies are pretty stupid. So much so that you wonder how we can even watch any of them and maintain self respect. Do we laugh at Hollywood or does Hollywood laugh at us?

Kinski was most likely terrifying to the actors that he was directing; Still, Great Art comes from "Great suffering..."

Mi si stringe il cuore a vedere wuesto film struggente dinuna giovane donna che con sottile inganno l hanno convinta a rinunciare alla sua vita libertà ed amare per farsi suora.

Il prefetto mori aveva capito cosa significava e dove eliminarla la mafia. Una regione come la Sicilia da come vediamo. Il prefetto mori cercava di far cambiare la mentalita' in questo caso come nel film alla persona del posto. E li risponde noi non stiamo ne con loro ma manco con il prefetto mori. E da qui non si capira' mai il perche' il cittadino non si fida del proprio stato.

Interpretazione magistrale quella di maria la protagonista sembrava una suora vera le calzava a pennello il ruolo di monaca di clausura per la fragilità.

I watched it and it was great. But I am still not sure if it is a documentary (real life) or a film (and they are acting). Can anyone answer my question?

Pessima la scelta della musica del trailer, lo fa sembrare una commedia all'italiana per ragioni di marketing ingannevole, perché non potrebbe essere più lontano da quello. Grandissimo film "pittorico", inquadrature che sembrano opere contemporanee. Importantissima la scelta dei colori, una ricerca cromatica profonda, in tutto il film, con moltisdime cose che sono state colorate ah hoc (anche gli esterni delle case etc), ma anche nella scelta del colore degli abiti, specie in contrasto con gli sfondi. Recitazione un pò teatrale ma estremamente espressiva della Vitti. Temi importantissimi come il disagio mentale sociale, l'inquinamento, lo sviluppo industriale e le macchine, l'incomunicabilità e l'alienazione, la difficoltà di relazione con le cose, con le persone, il male oscuro. Un tipo di cinema espressionista, curatissimo, autoriale, innovativo, cose che non esistono più da molto tempo nel cinema italiano.
