RAF Gatow, originally constructed in 1934-1935 by the Luftwaffe, served as a staff and technical college during World War II. Notably, it was the base for the only known operational use of flying boats in central Europe during the Berlin Blockade. Today, part of the former airfield houses the German Air Force Museum.
