    Thanks for the awesome video! My Predator 8750 is about 2 years old, but instead of a metal rod throttle linkage, it appears to have an electronic throttle actuator (there are electric wires leading out of it). In looking at the top mounts of the tri-fuel carburetor, it seems like there's no way to just take the actuator off the old carburetor and mount it onto the new one. Have you run across this issue, or might you know of other ways to solve this problem?

    The drivers door needs to move forward. You need to align the door with the rocker panel perfectly and then adjust the other gaps accordingly. The door line should follow perfectly into the rocker

    • @theinfernalcraftsman
      @theinfernalcraftsman 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yup that's why I said it was too far back. It's easy to get into the habit of making tight gaps like modern cars and not notice you have slid it past the edge of the rocker. The. There is another method that many do and that is to make the fender to rocker very tight which makes the door gaps nice and tight and no one notices that little jog at the rocker. But then again they really weren't too worried about it at the factory when they built them. Perfect was not in their vocabulary and there wasn't the time or technology to do it back then on the line.

    • @trahar6257
      @trahar6257 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes keep larger gaps. Everything was designed with much larger traps than modern cars. The door fender and hood gaps should be between 3/16 and 1/4 and o usually the rocker to door gap will be even larger some cars are close to 1/2”. Also your front lower valance is “twisted” because your drivers fender is so far forward. It’s very important to keep building the entire car as one unit before actually cutting and moving metal

    • @theinfernalcraftsman
      @theinfernalcraftsman 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@trahar6257 Yup been preaching that for a long time. The front valance is crooked but not noticeable unless you are pedantic like I can be at times. I did some measuring and compared it to a factory one. The fender only had 1/8 of room to go rearward and that factory fender is in the scrap pile (to be used for repair other fenders) now after I actually looked it over. I have never liked the rocker to door gap on these cars. I can weld on a filler rod and tighten it up and make it look better but it's not worth the time for me. Course I have done way more GM than Fords and overall the fitment is much better on the GM. That said the 67-68+ mustangs were much better and the aftermarket parts for them fit far better than the 5-6. The 5-6 it's a race to the bottom to have the cheapest parts to sell so quality suffers.

    I just learned the hard way that reproduction panels are absolute garbage.

    • @theinfernalcraftsman
      @theinfernalcraftsman 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would t say that. For the price they sell at they are excellent and far better than a flat piece of steel. Think of panels today. A factory panel from the dealer fits perfect. An after market is a fraction of the price and fits ok. Now remember that the aftermarket company also had to build their own dies from just copying an original and no access to original drawings. We will always complain about the aftermarket panels. Especially when it's just minor tweaks that need to be done. I wish they would fix some of the errors that the original panels had.

Good tool and I don't use my regular one anymore. Northern tool used to sell it as well. The same one is sold on Amazon for 125. There is also an aircat one and their tools are usually pretty good as well. There are smaller ones that use 3" wheels but I have not used them. The chief uses 4" wheels and it's a far beefier tool than the smaller one. It has allot of torque and cuts even when I am impatient and don't wait for the pressure to come up all the way.

    I am doing these on a 66 coupe and in my case a four ton portable hydraulic jack was key. it not only helped push it into place but when welding I could push and bend areas to get them flat - pushing from ground and wedged in against the drums. It was a tight fit and you should expect it will require some trimming. I wish I would have put them in before the floorboards but I did not know enough. I did get a brass hammer because of this video and it was also critical. Thanks for providing video of how it fits! Seeing it helped my progress.

    As far as towing your generator is concerned, you might consider pulling your wheel kit altogether and buying a 24 inch wide yard cart. For $139 I got one at Harbor Freight rated for 1,000 lbs. The handle converts for towing, and by dropping the sides, there's easy access for services. There's also room enough for 4 2.5 gallon fuel jugs up front, and stowage for the power cable aft.

    • @theinfernalcraftsman

    Just to be clear, does this result in a conversion from gasoline to propane, or do you end up with a dual fuel generator?

    • @theinfernalcraftsman
      @theinfernalcraftsman 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's dual fuel and technically tri fuel if you have a way to supply it natural gas. For me gasoline is a fuel of last resort in generators. No issues with bad fuel or gummed up carbs etc with propane. And during a power outage you most likely won't have access to gasoline as the pumps will be down.
