The train depot, pictured at 3:57, is that of the CNW, in Winona, MN; not in St. Paul.

In the 40s & 50s I grew up at Glenwood MN on the Soo Line. My dad was a brakeman on the Soo. Several times I got to ride the noon train #6 or maybe #106 to St. Paul to visit the O scale model railroad in the basement of the Union Depot. I would then get to ride on train #9 back to Glenwood. The railroad in the basement was something very marvelous to a kid. I also got up close to the William Crooks in those days, it was on the upper floor I think. My last trip through the Union Depot was when I returned from Navy boot camp in 1958. My dad was brakeman on the last run of train #9-10 out of Glenwood in the late 60s I think.

At 5:49, you mentioned a wood roundhouse that became too small. Was that the building that was located on Randolph Avenue just west of Shepard Road that was destroyed by a straight-line windstorm that devastated Highland Park 20-some years ago? Or was that building associated with the industry along West 7th Street?

I want to know who the person was that was standing on the train at 7:16 in to the video. Looked like they were dressed in swat style clothing.. hmmm.

Even pre-corona, Union Depot was depressingly empty 90% of the time. The county/ state need to increase passenger rail service across the state and to Chicago/ Seattle to make it more active.

Awesome to still see Sandberg still involved. I fondly remember riding behind #261 in September 1993. Nice job with the presentation.

I'm still astounded to see this place today. I recall railfanning around (Or at least as close as I could get at the time) it in the 1990's on a frigid heavily grey overcast February day thinking it'll never see a passenger train again. Heck, I figured it'll finally get too old even for St. Paul and it'd be razed.

Any plans to repair the north facing depot camera? Thanks.
