I'm leaving Bali... here's why
After almost 18 months on the Island on Gods, it's finally time for me to say my goodbyes to Bali.
Bali has been my home for a long time, and through that time I've seen the island change in ways that don't really align with where I am in life and what I want out of a place that I call home.
On top of that, there are other reasons I'm leaving Bali, many of which are business related.
I'm going to miss the place I grew as a content creator and entrepreneur - Bali will always hold a special place in my heart - but for now, it's time to leave...

What's the story behind Bali's abandoned planes?

What's the story behind Bali's abandoned planes?
Great info Mate. I spend 3-5 months a yr in Bali. I only eat local foods, I do have ice, salads etc never had an issue. I never use the left hand to hand over cash, never walk on offerings , always dress appropriately, & I do spend time on the Gili Islands, Lovina Lombok, Tabanan etc . I spend a few days in Ubud & Legian on each trip..
I saw a video saying travelling to Gili is hectic as the waves can be bad, compared to nusa penuda,is this correct? Thanks for the video❤.
The waves can certainly be pretty crazy from Bali to the Gili's. Out of the 5 or 6 times I've made this crossing maybe 2 or 3 times have been pretty rough. So prepare some motion sickness tablets if you suffer!
Such bad experience, sorry dude. Mostly Indonesian doesnt know how to run a business, they just wanna fast and instan profit. "Who care about the long term? Im just wanna f*cking live this day" kinda. I hope government make a program education about touristy thing. ( I know it exist, but they need make more). I hope there's no problem with rest your time in bali. Enjoy!
5:25 Wow, Vinh City, I live in here
Is there another more upscale train? 😅
Did Hanoi to Da Nang legs just say never again 🤦♂️
Stop accepting poor tourist😂, Bali!!
Hi Ryan, was your driver Jimmy on this tour? We have used him may times and we just do our our tours and visit the places we want to do. Loved your Video
I love Indonesia ❤❤
Enjoy life dude all you do is complain... Inform yourself before traveling and enjoy what you want to see..
Fred is the highlight of the trip probably
Ha ha idiots went jewelry store😂
Australian need visa Australian stay in f Australia we got enough drunk Australian 😊😊😊😊😅
I would also like to venture Hue from Danag as you ride by the scooter .. I am entering Danang hopefully on 25 Sep .. thanks for your video.. it will help me.. but where did you drop your scooter at Hue?
Silver jewelery I bought very beautiful, but not from those places, there they are expensive and poor quality.
Love this thanks Ryan, we are off to Krakow next month and your tips were superb thank you!!
In Bali now Canggu it’s overpriced traffic on main roads is horrendous.Too many foreigners buying businesses and hiking prices up .Balinese people are lovely though .Its a shame it’s just tourist rip off place now
For Hanoi to HCMC which is over 1000 miles by rail travel, Vietnam should develop HSR with the help of Chinese or Japanese technology, so that it could reach the destination within 8-9 hours.
They are planning a high-speed railway from north to south but don't know when it will start construction.
The most comprehensive guide on the internet on GilI islands but you’ve never spent any time on Meno , lol
I’ll have you know I’ve spent all of 30 minutes on Meno walking around the salt lake 🤣
How much money police expect if you dont have IDP handy?
Usually around $50, but it might have gone up since I left Bali. It’s definitely negotiable though 😂
Let’s go Ryan! Going to do this tomorrow on a whim : cheers you legend! Hope we don’t run out of fuel 😂
Ahh awesome! How did it go? Get across okay? 😂
Going to Bali then Singapore in a few weeks!!!!! So excited!! Thank you for this information. I have been watching videos so I knew some of this stuff, but now I know more!!! 😊
Glad you found some value in this video 😊
Typical English tourist vlog. Complain, complain, complain! English folk need to be wrapped in bubble wrap.
So glad I visited these islands in the ‘80’s, so quiet and friendly back then. Gillie Meno was the best.
Can imagine it was super peaceful back then 🤯
@@RyanLeeBanks Gillie T was a party island back then as well with a tenth of the infrastructure, mainly on the east side. There was 9 beach shacks on Gillie Meno and one shop. I paid $5aud a day which included meals. Very peaceful.
This is just proof how strong and determined VN people's mentality is to keep the country together. Tested and trained by so many wars
Right! They have crazy resilience and passion for their country
@@RyanLeeBanksikr, am Vietnamese actually and reading our history am just fascinated how we still have the country intact and whole today😂
try going to china for a tour and bali tourist traps wont feel bad, spent over 2 hours getting sold pots and pans
Will have to try one day and report back to you 😂
No1 stepping of the aircraft
Wow, it's impressive how far $20 can go in Hanoi! Pho for breakfast and a visit to Bach Ma Temple all for a fraction of the budget. Talk about stretching your money!
It’s super easy to penny pinch in SEA if you really want to, my girlfriend used to travel Asia on $15/day!
Could you share the map?
I just used Google maps 😊
Just curious, why censor Sara's T-shirt? was there something controversial on it that can't be shown on TH-cam?
We were working for a tour company to create content for them on this tour, so I didn’t want to talk badly about the tour but also have their branded t-shirt on show because at the end of the day it’s not the companies fault if the tour is bad 😊
Great video. Thank you for the info. I want to book with eka jaya but there’s more than one website with their logo to book the ferry. Is one a scam or are they all the same?
I think there’s only one Eka Jaya website that I know of, then a few comparison websites too, sort of like booking.com. But we just booked through the official website 😊
Moving to Bangkok to avoid traffic is like moving to Atlantis to avoid getting your socks wet lol
The traffic in Bangkok was child’s play compared to Bali 😂
Do u worship the idols too
Been visiting off and on for 2 years now and A lot of this is very accurate. Not negative at all. This guy is preparing you by being honest. There is this sharp contrast between how beautiful everything and everyone is....to all of a sudden you're just being herded around and pressured...quite strongly sometimes....to buy. They can get quite visibly upset about it sometimes lol. That drastic change in the middle of a tour is very jarring because chances are you've been spending and tipping and being generous the entire time you've been in Bali. No need to crank the pressure up. HA!😅Anyway. Those tours definitely need a better approach. They'd probably make waaay more money in the process
Watching this video excaclty at Kardia :)
Nice video mate, I've never heard an English guy say that less than 20 quid is expensive for a day rental/one way service, you must have already spent a lot of time in Vietnam haha
Haha I’ve spent a lot of time in SEA and understand quite well what the going rates are for things, this was expensive but I still kinda get it 😂
As Indonesian I can say that your guide/information useful. I have to agree with south Bali, those areas you mentioned are crowded. North Bali is better if you want to experience less touristy aspect of Bali. Sure there are lots of hotels there, but none of them belong to big hotel chain (eg: Hyatt, Hilton, Mercure etc). The price of goods up north is also way cheaper than south. The drawback would be distance. It took 3-4 hours of drive to get to north Bali (Buleleng, Singaraja or Lovina) but on the plus side, you'll be rewarded with nice mountain scenery while driving. And about tap water... If you really have to drink/use it, just make sure to boil it first then it's mostly safe.
The reason they brought you to thise buffet restaurant cos the driver/ guide get free meals he's also get free commission for every stuff you bought on a tourist trap.
Yeah, but we’ve also been on tours where the driver takes us to a lovely Indonesian restaurant in a rice field and he still gets a free meal haha
I am in the Gili Islands right now, and this video is absolutely 100% useful and accurate. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Hey, can you advice a tour we can buy to Menjagan Island Snorkeling, also do you think most of the tours includes transport from Ubud to the Menjagan Island? Thank you :)
made the mistake of walking the canggu shortcut on my first trip there.... never EVER again haha
That’s one hell of a risk you took there 🤣
What quiet place which is worth visiting do you recommend?
Out of everywhere, Sidemen and Menjangan 🥳
finally!!!!!!!!!!!! One smart person that realized Cianggu is crap.
As a solo traveller who only stays in hostels I would never recommend mad monkey. Stayed there for 9 days in Thailand... Its always crowded since it has capacity of 80-100 beds, cant even have a decent convo with all the music playing. Will be going to Gili T at end of month, I will definitely go check check whether MM here has the same commercialized vibe.
Hey, did you stay at MM in Gili T ? We have booked our stay there for next month. Your feedback will be really helpful!
@@rohit7walvekar you are in for a lot of disappointed. Are you travelling solo or as a couple or group of guys. I will advise you accordingly
I am traveling with my wife. What stuff let you down ?
@@rohit7walvekar Gili T hostels get too wild to be staying there with your wife. I mean you won't be participating in any hostel games or activities or clubs at 1 am and would be watching from a distance. If u decide to participate "properly", you can expect any random gora to touch or feel your wife during activities. Hence I will recommend you to book a respectable hotel.
@@rohit7walvekar And if budget is issue, book the house hostel. It's not a party hostel, it's very calm and peaceful and you wouldn't meet any rowdy tourists.
What happened if someone fart in tunnel??
If every shop is a tourist trap as you put it, better to stay at home and just google everything. As tight as they come!
Have ever come to visit Siem Reap, Cambodia?
Maybe next March 😊
Real booby trap at 16:13
How u define a tourist trap .....then tour Ur self .....keep mocking ......bla bla bla
hi there great content I wanted to know how long did you take to reach hue from da nang and also did you do a day trip to this place or have you stayed back one day ?
Heya! I rode pretty slow to shoot this video and it took around 3-4 hours. I didn’t go back to Da Nang after riding this route!
