I wish i had a spray wall like that at our gym. We only have a 45 degree one.
Great wall. Do you have a favorite app to use to save problems?
I don't I'm afraid. Right now I use Boulder Maker, but I'm not convnced that it's so good. It's an idea though..to have a look at some others. I might do that! Do you have a fav app that you use?
@@BoulderLab I like RetroFlash most so far. But a newer one I'm trying is called Climb with Crux. I've done reviews on both on my channel.
Stokt is the best. You do have to pay for it but it's worth it
Additionally there is an app called Boulder bot that will create climbs FOR YOU, it’s crazy
We use “stokt”
Hello, doesn't it pull too much on the arms when you swing unlike when you go static? or you are talking about a position where we are in no-foot .? Thanks
Yes it does pull on the arms, but less so than going static when cutting feet completely.
this was excellent, Im gonna implement the shoulder warm up for sure.
This is so well produced, sharp, and informative! Thank you for making this video.
Our pleasure!
I just found the channel in the last few days. It is great and gives excellent explanations and insights. Thanks
Good video, I will try it out next time I go bouldering
Excellent! Go for it!
Very clear explanation why cutting loose can be inefficient
Excellent!!! One of the most important moves frequently overlooked. Congrats!!
Useful thanks
I feel like this channel contains much wisdom, really like the way concepts are explained :D I am guilty of being like jelly (I call it having the body tension of a wet noodle) so this is something I want to work on for sure!
nice video, this is inspiration for my session tonight!
Yay!!
This explains why I keep scraping my knees
Great videos. New subscriber here! I also have a shorter pinky and that tip about rotating the hand was SO enlightening! I've always thought it was simply a handicap that was written off!
Yay! Awsome! Thank you for sharing. I'm so glad we could help. It makes this hobby of ours, which is Boulder Lab so much more worthwhile!
Thanks for the great tips and the very clear illustration of them!
You explain these things very well
Thank you!
Thank you very nice video!
Glad you liked it!
Stop putting the camera man in the shots
Marek is my partner in crime. He has to be in the shots, cos Boulder Lab is the two of us, you see 😃 We do it on purpose to remind the audience that it’s not always just the front-person who does all the work.
I'm a beginner but i've watched quite a few different channels and this one is the more straightforward and helpful for me so far, thank you !
Thank you very much! That’s exactly what we hope to achieve, so it’s lovely to get that feedback.
Brief and straight to the point. I appreciate your excellent visual examples shot from different angles and the key is providing close up shots, which most climbing videos either don’t do, or do poorly and inconsistently. I think close-ups are very important, and should never be overlooked. Thank you.
Thanks very much for the comment! That was Mark's idea. We hope to be doing more close up stuff in the future.
this channel is underrated
Thank you for taking the time to explaining why your elbow kept getting worse.
It was a long and painful journey for me and we thought that it might be interesting to share with people. It's quite a common injury.
Your channel is great! I hope it gains a lot more traction and grows.
Thank you! We're just having fun with it. Something to pass the time inbetween teaching at the gym :D
A interesting thing to note with the 1st two demonstrations; is that when leading with your hip, you had to release at least one point of contact. Whether that was the trailing foot in the 1st or the hand in the 2nd. Sometimes you just hand to release from one point to establish the next.
You're right! I never thought to mention that, very perceptive!
A great little episode, thank you!
Another very helpful video, thanks and good job👍
Really helpful! Thank you!
love the short and informative format, keep up the great work

I was doing exactly what the "first climber" was doing, even yesterday. Thanks a lot for this video and keep up the great work you are doing!
Thank you!!! We are hoping to get filming this week!
Great input ;)
I suffered climber elbow almost 2 years trying different porcedures. The key are excentric excercises. The weight should be constantly increased as long as it doesnt agrravate the tendon. I'm finally pain free reaching 15kg dumbell for 8-10 reps. 3kg dumbells are good for warmup or really early rehab. Such light weights are usless long term. 100 reps with 2kg dumbell doesnt prepere tendon to single hard moves on boulders.
Well done for beating it!
That's a great informative video and well researched i would say. I had took up climbing few months back and had been experiencing this pain. Didn't wanted to give up on climbing hence kept pushing through it but pain increased. I have took a week off and now I will suerly incorporate these exercise and then return back to climbing. In my case i have this pain running through biceps at times as well. Is it related to tennis elbow or some other issue? Thanks for the video 🙌♥️
It could be that your climbing technique needs tweeking. These pains are sometimes the result of poor footwork for example. So I'd most prob hire a coach to have a look at you in the gym. Also, don't underestimate the pros of a visit to a physio, could be that the bicep pain is a result of tighteness in other muscles. That's just very general advice, but hope it helps!
Nice and important tip! Thanks!
These videos are fantastic. Very well presented, particularly for a beginner and the demonstations are spot on.
Oh wonderful! Thank you for such a nice comment. We try our best!
Those exercises didn't help my elbow until I got up to higher weights of 10-15 kilos
Yeah, that seems to be the general consensus. With me the key was to make super incremental steps and load it very slowly.
Which exercises?
@@LFSJack the concentric and eccentric ones
Ah ok! Thanks. Same for me. Could somewhat heal my tennis elbow after some month doing them. I also used 10kg. But now it's comming back.. and golfers on the other arm 🥳
@@LFSJack Something which really helped me (I also had reoccuring tennis elbow), was asking one of the other coaches at the gym to look at how I climb. I then made tweaks in how I used my feet and interestingly enough changed my wrist position on crimps. I felt like that helped me to kick the injury in the long run.
you have a slight climbers hunch which could be part of your elbow issue
Could be. I've started doing yoga in the mornings and that's been huge in getting rid of it :D
Extremely useful and amazing way to illustrate it, thanks so much!
the sound effects are the highlight of this video
😆😆 that’s our sound guy…Marek , going crazy with it
I've got a replacement hip and it sounds like that in the mornings 😅

It's a pleasure to find your channel. We were neighbours at those apartments in Kalymnos, spring 2022! I came here looking for tips on a kind of mantel problem that I have on a vertical outdoor climb in Thailand. So I have both hands on a crimpy mantel ledge. Then I need to get my right foot high, but I'm kind of compressed here struggling to keep my hip in. I then need to pinch a small undercling with my right hand, but it's out of reach. Now, I've managed to make the move once but I'm struggling to do it again. Somehow I transferred weight onto my right foot, stood up a bit, converted my left hand crimp to a mantel, and then had the height to reach the small undercling with my right hand. I hope you can picture the problem somewhat. Do you have a video covering something like this? I will experiment with the hanging left leg and sitting on the right leg, just like in this video for now.
Hello Stephen!! Yeah I remember always intruding upon your breakfast 😆 Amazing to hear from you in the roundabout way which is youtube! Getting into underclimgs off a mantle can be hard , but good job getting some height on that right foot. Funnily enough we just shot another episode on mantleing. It's in post production at the mo, but we hope to get it out by the end of the month. Also, I would say that taller climbers sometimes have it harder to get those hips into the wall...so maybe some hip mobility would be a good idea.
Fajnie jak pokazujecie ruchy z dwóch kamer. Bardzo pomocne. dzięki za kolejny odcinek
Dzięki! Staramy się!

Wow, I was talking about warming up yesterday 😅. I am going to be incorporating this into my warm up routine! Thanks for the great video!
