MONTANA FLY FISHING | 4 Days in the Backcountry
The BushBros are back! In this video, we spend 4 days of our 12 day Montana trip in the middle of the wilderness fly fishing for trout. We packed minimal gear and hiked to a beautiful campsite where we stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the serenity of being completely alone. We hooked into countless cutthroat and rainbow trout and took time to admire the endless remote wilderness of Montana. We will post another video that includes all 12 days of our trip later!

Dang fellas this brought back some of my fondest memories growing up back in Wisco. In high school my buddies and I continuously found ourselves in over our heads on canoe trips just like this all over the Northwoods haha. We still tell stories about them almost 15 years later, and the adventures have gotten bigger! Keep exploring!

If you are in the BWCA. You should be using designated camp sites. Leave no trace behind. Absolutely no reason to be pulling out brush along the shore. They stabilize what little soil there is. In 40 years of trips we have never used an ax or knife. Only bad things can happen. We took our 20 year old nephew on a trip. Our canoes shifted on the van near Virginia. We got out to re-tie. My nephew pulled out his knife and promptly cut his finger. Accidents are called accidents for a reason. Hopefully only positive comments to come

When I was your age. My brother brought me up into Quetico with his two school buddies. I caught a huge small mouth that stood as my largest for 35 years. Estimated 6lbs. A few years ago I was pulling in a smally. All I could say was "its so long" over and over. 22.5 maybe longer. You will have many more memorable wind days. Just make sure you survive them if going in May and June. Very very cold water. Take a look at Crane Lake in Northern MN. We were stuck on the north shore for 6 hours. We could almost see our vehicle. There must be a dozen times the wind was impossible . It makes life long stories. My advice for smallmouth bass is to fish topwater in late May to early June . They are spawning right next to shore. My brother out fishes me every year with a Rebel teeny pop-R . Until I give up on my Rapala or floating lipped crankbait. Cast it right next to shore and let it sit. Give it a twitch or pop. And let it sit. I have counted 13 different ways a bass can hit that lure If those were not your canoes. I suggested getting some 20 ft long 3 person canoes. Wenonah minn3 or Northstar 20 ft. Get them from an outfitter at the end of the year. Piragis sells theirs after one year. Five year old are almost as good. They will last you for decades. And get some bent carbon fiber paddles. Incredibly light and will last a lifetime. Quetico has far fewer permits so much less problem finding campsites. Voyager outfitters at the end of the gunflint trail can boat you across the big water to hook Island. Then paddle to Cache bay ranger station then across the Silver Falls portage. It has a crazy rock wall to make your way down. Cache bay is eastern entrance into Quetico. I have never seen the bottom of Silver Falls. Near vertical walls. Or go to crane lake and look up Anderson Outfitters . They will boat you across 30 miles of remoteness. And pick you back up. Or they can drive your car to near Ely and you can paddle your way across the top of the bwac.

Great to see you back again guys, been a while 😁 Fantastic scenery, you guys are fun to watch, the fishing looks great and all. But what stood out to me in this short film was the quality of the production, it is all so professional, the narration, the filmimg, the cut away shots and the voice overs. Montana should be paying you for producing a fine advertisement for their county. Great film and great to see you back.....with a bang. Thank you for taking us all with you, greets from Wales U.K.

"If we go on the water obviously we are going to get struck by lightning." I disagree. My observation is lightning likes to strike shore or the interface between water and land. I dont think there is an increased danger being on the water vs going to shore. It is probably about equal. I usually just keep paddling unless the increased wind or cold presents an issue. I did enjoy the videos. Beautiful river. Thanks for sharing.
