      Bioplastics like PLA def break down a bit faster, but many are afraid of them creating much more microplastics and their impact on farm land/food supply/water. HIRO is first focused on the harder to break down "regular" soft plastics as there are much more of them, but bioplastics are on the roadmap

      Fair point. It’s only 10-12% of the population. But Europe is still better even with public schools. For example in my area the schools are not free if you earn above X. And no daycare is free. So Europe for the win

    The Christans hijacked The Winter Solstice celebration from the "pagans" to con them into converting to Christianity. The origins of Christmas comes from the culture of the Sami people of Scandanavia (The North Pole). They were like the Native Americans to their land. The aboriginals. They had reindeer herds, sleighs, tipis made from reindeer hides, they grew red and white mushrooms under evergreen trees and when they were ready to harvest they cut them and put a string through the stem and hung them on the evergreen tree to dry (ornaments on an evergreen tree), the northern lights are the lights on the tree, once the mushrooms were dry and ready (on Winter Solstice) the Shaman (Santa) would put them in his sack and deliver them down the (tipi) chimney and put them inside the drying stockings hung by the fire, they ate the mushrooms that gave them the spirit and made the reindeer fly high (spaced out on magic mushrooms). The Sami people culturally have always dressed in bright red and green and blue colors with pointy hats and pointy shoes (elves). You can go there and see the Sami people who still live this way today. Although they don't live in tipis anymore but still dress the same and have reindeer. Sad that this religion called Christianity has stolen other cultures just to con others into believing their made up stories. We celebrate the Winter Solstice. The true HUMAN holiday of all cultures all over the world. 🌬❄💙

    Sorry, but there have been reusable cloth diapers around forever. Are people really too lazy to use reusable diapers when they have washing machines? • @ImTero

      In brief, yes they are too lazy. And the numbers all show that. In addition, the energy & water needed to blast the poopy cloths is nothing to sneeze at. Plus the vinegar mess. But I digress. The point is that it’s a major problem and cloth diapers are not a solution-otherwise it would not be a growing problem.

    I will add to, as well as repeat, some of what you said: US food is more processed, with lots more salt and sugar added. US food is often shipped and not locally sourced (less seasonal). US population does not walk or bike enough. Why? One reason is because of US suburban design. Car-centric, that is. * You have to drive to a large corporate grocery store to get food, because suburb does not allow small businesses, nor restaurants. * You won't drive too frequently since this is usually not a short 5 min drive (otherwise, it would be a walk or bike ride). Maybe once a week or once every two weeks. * Food has to last one to two weeks on the shelf and in the fridge. So, this disincentivizes small mom&pop shops which would source locally (say, from local small farm) and disincentivizes daily short grocery trips to buy a single bag of more organic and less processed locally sourced groceries, fresh just for that day. It incentivizes going from house to car to large grocery store and back to car and then to house. US suburban population has no third place to socialize and has destroyed small businesses and mass transit (or biking/walking) by requiring sprawl and non-business housing only (minimum lot size laws, single family housing R1 zoning only laws) and car infrastructure (parking lot laws, large roads with fast speed limits in residential). They have also affected the health of their kids, by creating infrastructure detrimental to using bikes or walking to school, thus "imprisoning" kids (making it necessary for parent to drive to many places, hence "soccer mom") until 16 (when they start to drive themselves). To fix, US would have to allow mixed housing in suburbs, allow small businesses into suburbs, and allow multi-unit housing in suburbs. Then, after population densifies, mass transit becomes viable and walking/biking to places becomes viable. Until then, the population will drive everywhere. Drive to restrooms they soon will, I used to joke 🙂.

    No mention of healthcare?

  • @carlnielsen4338
    @carlnielsen4338 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think you should be looking at median wages instead of averages. This would make for a better comparison, as averages in the U.S. are very inflated due to the number of billionaires and multimillionaires. If you compare Northern Europe to the U.S., you generally see a much higher median wage in Europe. In other words, the majority of the population in Northern Europe earns more than the majority of the U.S. population. Taxes are higher in Europe in general, but they cover free healthcare, subsidized education, and strong social benefits. In the U.S., people often pay thousands for insurance, medical care, and schooling. When you factor those costs in, the average Dane (and others in Northern Europe) often ends up better off financially than the average American.

    • @carlnielsen4338
      @carlnielsen4338 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So you say that a lot of the time the net wage in the US is way higher. But statistically speaking that is just not true when comparing to the better off european countries. But yes US 1% or even 10% wages go crazy

    • @adamrou12345
      @adamrou12345 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you want to compare Denmark to the US you would have to compare it to like just Massachusetts or Maryland which are similar in population. Those states both have larger economies than Denmark. They are also similar with relatively high taxes. You would compare the US to the European Union which are closer structurally as entities.

    • @Nightwalker86
      @Nightwalker86 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This was very well-stated. I would like to add something tangential; people compare the US to the EU as if they were competitors, which implies similar economic situations. This is not true. Europe was built from literal rubble and rocks after World War II destroyed almost all capital-based infrastructure. The US was the bigger of two world superpowers and had a near monopoly on the European reconstruction. Even with this massive advantage, far better geography, and far more natural resources, the US vs the EU is a reasonable comparison today. I think that highlights how ineffective the US is at the policy level relative to its peers.

    • @ImTero
      @ImTero หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fair point that the range is even bigger with the wealthy as said in the video. But it’s also huge on minimum salaries. In Finland it’s like 1,800e/month and California about $5,500/month. So Nordic people definitely don’t earn more than Americans. And yes you get more for the taxes in Europe as explained in the video but many of those benefits are being cut/reduced as the economies have failed to grow

      This isn't quite right. US health care is a functional monopoly with infinitely inelastic demand, best stated as "pay this or suffer". Let's say you are hit by a car and need a hip replacement. In Spain, maybe that would cost $15k and be assisted by the government. In the US, they might calculate the optimal price as 120k. No amount of tax benefits will overcome that. And you would think, okay that's a special example because of the car accident. But then you multiply it by the entire spectrum of health care. Where I live now, if I call an ambulance, it has no cost. My ambulance company charged $2300 for a ride to the hospital. Etc etc. It's a huge net loss on the population. Nationalized health is a far better system.

      @@Nightwalker86 How much healthcare costs in the US depends on who you work for. The "list prices" are farcical. Personally, I have excellent insurance through my employer so my cost for any given doctor visit is either $25 or $40. A hospital visit is $100. Drugs are $2-25 depending on the drug. With an absolute maximum out of pocket cost per year cap of $2000. So if I get hit by a car and need a hip replacement and rehab, it would cost me a maximum of $2000/yr. And as a rule, the better/higher paying job, the less it costs you. It's a stupid system, but enough people are insulated from it as I am that it will never change. It's better to be poor to middle-class in Europe, but better to be upper-middle-class to rich in the US. Very much by design.

    I don´t understand you forget 2 Important expenditures ? Like Healthcare Cost and Day care for Children ?. When i see Budgets from American families ? Healthcare and Childcare is Often among the biggest cost. Healtcare can cost over 1000$ a month, Childcare can cost 1500$ or more pr month. If you live in expensive State (California or Newyork) then a Family can have a hard time to live for 100000$ a Year. While 100000$ in Europe sounds like a lot. I think USA was cheaper before (for a high income family with kids) because Taxes was lower and Healthcare+ Childcare wasn´t so expensive. Now it seams that much of Europe is cheaper if you include cost for Healthcare and childcare (because thats cheap in Europe, except UK)

    • @collin9085
      @collin9085 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Firstly, Healthcare costs are vary drastically from person to person in America. Many people with good jobs get health care paid for by their employer. And many people who are low income get free or very cheap health care from "Obama-care." Childcare is also very dependent on your situation. Obvious solution is to have one parent stay home or have the grandparents help. But If you really need to pay someone to watch a child under 5 years old, it is about 1k/month. I also know a lot of poor single moms also get this subsidized. Obviously, after 5 years old, public school is free. Given that median wages in America are 50k per year and both parents are working if you need daycare, that means you will still have 85k to live off of, which is totally do-able. And with the tax breaks I would estimate that this same median hypothetical couple would probably pay 300-350 per year in health insurance. So that means like 80k, which is still gonna put you in a way better position than the median for many European countries.

      @@collin9085 Yes its true (ofcause) that its very diffrent from person to person. Weather you are young and healthy or old and sick. 80k $ is doable in many Mid-west states = True. But its quite few Jobs that would give a Family 100k$ in income there. Even if you have Insurance (Health) from your work ? You pay a part of it your self (33-41%) a Family health insurance cost on ave. 24000 $ , so its way more than you state. about 50% of Adult Americans have debt or problem with paying for Healthcare cost. (and it goes up Fast every year.) If you the add the Other cost (Car,Food,College,Utillity,Internet,Tax,Rent) ect. Then your Wage needs to be Very High, in order to live well. In Europe you just dont have so high Expences (and nothing to healthcare and low for childcare), so a 100 K $ wage is quite high in most places and you can live well.

      @@mabuhayproductionltd3627 I'm quoting median wage numbers for all of America. So there are TONS of jobs that pay that much. It's very easy to make $25/hour across America. It is very rare to be paying 2k/ month on healthcare in America. What you are talking about is the cost of ObamaCare before any deductions or assistance. As I said, VERY few people will pay something this high. Especially if they are healthy and don't need the basic plans in case of an emergency. In Europe, you pay VERY high taxes. So you are basically paying for health insurance without the ability to select a plan that works best for you. And you pay for childcare even if you don't have a child. Anecdotally, my friend has 2 kids and his wife stays home with the kids. He makes 60k/year. He is able to live fairly comfortably. He pays basically no taxes with his deductions, and his healthcare costs are very cheap. My point is, the government gives out a ton of money and assistance here in america. And he lives in a major city.

    • @phattorangecatto
      @phattorangecatto หลายเดือนก่อน

      Healthcare costs depend on the person entirely in the United States. Age, What state you live in, Gender, Medical history and Family size all influence how much you pay per month. Younger people will tend to pay less as they are healthier, older people tend to pay more as they have more issues as they age naturally. The cost of a single worker will be cheaper than one with a family. Naturally California would be more expensive than a smaller state like Kentucky. According to the government stats the average between $477-$740 depending on the circumstances and the Median is lower. This is just private insurance as well. Government plans are often free or heavily subsidized for the poor, as well for essentially all children under 19 years old, it is also free or heavily subsidized by the government but you must meet certain income requirements or be retired to get. So the European and American essentially pays the same amount monthly for healthcare, Europeans just pay for it in taxes, whilst Americans pay for it post taxes. The actual difference is that if you do happen to get sick, you will need to pay extra when you go to the doctor, something most of Europe I will admit does far better. As for Childcare that is largely unregulated cost wise and the cost of childcare begins to vary within individual cities even. One part of New York City might be far cheaper than another for Childcare. This essentially means its very hard to accurately track the cost of child care because they just vary so much. As for incomes, Incomes are still generally the same give or take a few thousand yearly state by state. Median income in every state is roughly equal, it is just that some states like California or New York have people who are so rich that it makes the numbers skewed. The difference between the poorest state and the richest state is never really more than $10,000-$13,000 a year.
