Looking to build a barndominium in Lee County Florida. Can the garage area be larger than the residence area in Florida? What would the smallest residence area inside a barndominium be in Fort Myers Florida?

We are getting ready to buy land in the gainesville florida area and will get power, well and septic on the property. Our initial plan was to put a manufactured home, or modular home but after finding your company, considering a barndo. We would love to do a site built barndo instead of a mobile home. But we want to do it small, 700 to 1000 sq feet living space. With some building area for a shop, What we need help with is making the process of putting up the building, and build out the interior, with electrical and plumbing. Keeping it simple and cheap. We're interested in building a barndo in ALachua county (Gainesville) later this year. We likely don't have the budget to build what wee want. A kit could help if a GC up there could put it together. Wondering if you could clarify a bit what you talked about hanging diy paneling (as opposed to dry wall)? I assumed this meant like shiplap or some other materials? Any pros/cons vs drywall? Also was a bit confused about the asker mentioning "kits"; I didn't see anything like this on your website. Does Florida Barndominiums offer "kits" with finished interiors?

Calculating how much I would need to be pre approved to start the process. The number that is given is the amount I mention to my Bank for the approval? Do I ask for a construction perm loan or a Mortgage loan or New build?

If you increase the height of the building - what is the max height without going into a 2 story situation/build… you said it would save $ if you just add to first floor and or just in Increase the height. What is that number before it reaches that threshold of more exorbitant costs $$$$ and the regular cost of a certain height ??? Looking to maybe do a loft but not a second story. Thanks!

I do have questions of my own like: if I find property/land I want to build on… does your company offer land and build packages? We own a home we just purchased a few months ago in DeBary FL AND it is way to small for us and our service dogs 🐕‍🦺 🐶 🐕 🐈…. Can we use our home as collateral for the land and Bardominium build? How does that work? What portion is the down payment or can we use our home as the down payment ? And do you continue to bill during the build? Or at the end of the build? We can wait a year if need be… but definitely don’t want to wait that long… so if we choose an engendered design your company Already have would that make the building process easier and quicker than say a design we submit to you. OR does that not make a difference in time it takes to build and of course lower some of the costs??? Is there a way to find out if a barndo would be allowed by the county BEFORE I spend money for the engineer to make the drawings and pay the deposit for the building? I’d hate to spend all that money and then find out that local building codes won’t allow it.

We own land [5ac] and currently have a new doublewide on it, so we have a new septic,well and power. We recently decided that we don’t like the doublewide and want to get rid of it and erect a barndominium in its footprint+. can you please explain any hurdles we may encounter with the Building Dept and what if any permit we need. thank you.
