Frankford Arsenal F1 press review and comparison to RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme
F1 single stage press review and head to head comparison with the rcbs rock chunker supreme.
We test load cartridge runout and shoot some groups with ammo loaded on both presses. Complete loading process from start to finish using my 6mm dasher as the base to determine which press might come out on top. Take everything you see with a grain of salt and come up with your own analysis. Thanks for watching!

Here i am performing a little experiment. I have recently finished my new house and am getting the chance to start on my gun room / safe room and I use safe room loosely. I understand the best thing would be concrete but that wasn’t an option or fundable at the time. So here we are enjoy the video.
6.5 Creedmoor Ar-10 load process (start to finish)
มุมมอง 2.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Finding a good solid load for my Ar-10 creedmoor with a 24” mcgowen barrel on it. Using 140gr bthp Hornady to duplicate the accuracy I hd when breaking in the barrel with factory ammo. Disclaimer I am not a professional. Anything you see on this channel is strictly for demonstration purposes only. You should always follow published load data and the manufacturers specifications. Wildcat cartridge basics (my 8 step process)
I would like to create a new ar15 type. my first step would be to create a new cartridge based on a 6.8 SPC but to neck it down to 6.5, to extend the case lenght from 43mm to 49mm, for an overall lenght of 68mm, then create a new ar magazine around it, then create new upper and lower receiver around the new magazine. my goal to send a 100 grain projectile at 3000fps from a 16" barrel, hold in a 30 rounds magazine. I think it's more an heavy industral project rather than a simple wildcating.
Would be nice if Barnes made a lighter ttsx for cartridges like the 2545
To me 80-90 sweet spot
I am glad you're not reloading for me, it would take a week to load a box of 20 .😅😅😅😢😢😢
Bon travail belle comparaison merci
I have a question if I could I’m working up a load for a 33 XC it’s basically a 338 Lapua with a larger H2O volume Gordons doesn’t have 33 XC in its drop-down list so what I’ve been doing is taking the 338 Lapua because both the Lapua and 33 XC have the same bolt face their shoulder angles are a little different and their water capacities Is different along with the case length. So here is my question if I enter the new H2O capacity and new case length would that work? Thanks for your advice.
Yes
Once again, thank you very much for your help. I look forward to watching the rest of the videos and looking forward to any new ones you have I appreciate your generosity with your knowledge and time
On another note, do you have one of your videos that shows how to use the Gordon’s with wildcat cartridges?
I’ve watched a lot of videos on this. You do a great job of explaining it. I want to thank you for helping. I wasn’t aware of some of the steps that you introduced in the video. Thanks again. I appreciate your helping me well done
What cartridge mate? Mine's a Howa mini bolt gun in 6.5 Grendel.
223 60gr vmax
Im not liking multiple powders out on the same bench.. put those other powders and cases up. Believe me, you will find out one day.. 😊
I've got the RCBS Rockchucker Supreme already and am thinking about getting the Frankford Arsenal just for the primer disposal system. Other than that I'm fine with the RCBS and had considered going to their Rebel press which has the through-ram primer system but this looks like a better deal.
That was the selling point for me as well.
How does one get a pew pew in this caliber??
Mad dawg weapons systems (mdws) who sells it
I'll still go with the RCBS, made in the U S of A!!!
Interesting video. I see you are not really an average reloader by any means. You have a lot of pricey stuff I kind of wish I had myself, not that it would make my loads any better, but it is more precision related like your powder measure. I think both presses will turn out equal ammo. The group test showed nothing with two different 5 shot groups. I have shot many groups with ammo and each group is just that a group. It would take multiple groups and averaging to make any real determination. But honestly just one bullet separates those two groups and it's nothing to have a flyer. BTW I will be purchasing a F-1 press for my farm to work loads. I have a range there. I have other presses at home for volume loading. I did enjoy your video; it was informative in the fact it honestly did not show any real significant advantage one over the other unless someone thought that group was proof of anything of which it really was not.
I started this channel when I had not a lot of pricey stuff just helps to upgrade as the years go by. There is a lot more higher end stuff than what I got besides the v4 AutoTrickler. That was a big chunk of change spent for automating my process but my process lacks big every where else for automating.
I like the post it tabs! I have been using index cards in ammo and brass boxes to keep notes
Made in CHINA!!!!!
Less than a third of the price lol
Would like to see you build a load like that with 6.5 StaBall. I think there's some bad data in the app. I put some numbers in that I know are pretty mild and show in indications of pressure and the app says I'm way over pressure.
I have a SIG SLH 762 Direct Mount. From what I understand, ECCO can cut the Direct Threat off and make it HUB? It’s what I wish to have done. ECCO can do this?
Yes that is a service he offers as long as his weld on piece is compatible with that suppressor he can do it just drop him an email and he will answer all your questions
I was watching this video again and saw something else that will bump up you performance on the 25-45 Sharps. I run cci 41 primers which are supposed to be a magnum. This has the effect of about 1/2 a grain of powder. Also you can cut some of the ballistic tip off and seat your bullets further out. Just like the boat tail, the ballistic tip has little if any advantage inside 300 yards. Dont be afraid of compresed loads. They are usually more accurate and will give lowes SDs.
I have thought about going with a 6x45... it pretty impressive for what it is....I did pick up some brass an dies for the 6max... look for a new coyote 🔫
Can you do a video on how to make a cartridge? Looks like they don’t have 22arc on there. I’d like to try and develop a load with different powders
I was running into the same problems with not getting the speed that I wanted till I switched to Accurate 2200, 24 grains, Speer hotcor 87g out of my 16” barrel I’m pushing around 2700fps, it’s a great caliber but for sure needs some playing with powders and bullets to find the best combo for your rifle and needs, best of luck
Oh man, do I hear you. My reloading area looks like a tornado hit it. I've been doing a bunch of crimped stuff I've swaged about 3500 cases mechanically! That creates a lot of brass swarf (shavings, chips, etc), I'm constantly brushing them up. I also run a 3d print version of a WFT also on the same press, even more swarf!
your wrong do your home work
Been reloading for 55 years, have owned Lyman, Lee, and Dillon, sold all but my 550 & 650. You've sold me on the F1 for my interest in precision shooting. It's in the mail!
How’s thing going with the new press?
@@kevinhullinger8743 I've never enjoyed a single stage press as much as I do this one. Progressive presses like the 650 & 550 are great for high volume loading like when I was a USPSA shooter and for lots of plinking 223 stuff. But for precision rifle shooting you need more control and that is what I get with the F1.
@@sfcmac336 awesome, thank you for the reply.
Was just thinking I probably need to do an update video probably have over 1500 rounds loaded on it. It’s doing well and the noise with the ram and the feel has definitely quite down as well
Does the zero stop of the Athlon stop at exactly 0 or can you put it like a couple of clicks below?
It will stop where ever you set the ring. I set the ring to stop .5 tenths under zero
@@theaveragereloader7222 nice, thanks a lot!
Using that tablet is a pure nightmare😂
Do you know anything about the 30 Herret?
If you trim as the first step you probably won't have to chamfer the case mouth after expanding the neck and sizing the outside of the neck after trimming
I've had my 6x45 for years and when loading 75gr I've used mid load for a 223 75gr and went up and it's well below pressure i do like the mongoose just get a little more speed
Well, I don't know about RCBS vs FA. But I will say that the .003 bump did better than the .006 bump did. Unfortunately, the moment that you allowed that to happen, the press comparison ended.
I quit with runout a few yrs ago, it doesn't rhyme with me, good bullets, good powder, good barrels, and good glass in the 45x range so you can see your .125 or .250 movements Great Vid👍👍👍👍👍👍🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
Nice video man. The note inside the box is such a solid tip, I started doing that recently and it helps alot. If I’m moving the stuff from one container to another I write out all the steps that it still needs and they get crossed off, and the note travels with the brass. Easy to think you won’t forget where you were at while you’re doing it until you go back later 😂
100% true
What was the other case you had with your 300 aac when doing your powder dumps?
Poor job, poor video.
Did this load work up ever get proved-up? Hoping to see the ballistic gel testing and final accuracy of 168gr ELDM.
Built a bolt gun in 25 Sharps getting 2868 SD 7fps with 87gr sub MOA at 100 yards.
Old video, I know but just found. I have gad & been shooting this caliber since 2016. I LOAD DOWN from factory as I find factory abusive to brass. I Load 90SGK past 2850 & MOA with Benchmark, 2230 & 2200. AR Comp is not to shabby @ 2800+. ALL sub moa. Six deer with this bullet in 18 & 20" bbls. Hornady makes a 110 FTX thats AWESOME @ 2650fps Im in new England. I see the same kinds of temp swings. Been loading for 50 years. This is not such a big deal.
This is not reloading its another excuse to play on the computer. What a waste of time watching this.
thanks for promoting organization of the bench :)
What is the bolt pattern on the FA F-1 press, from center to center? I was needing to know if i have the room on my mount before ordering this rig. Much appreciated
25-45 Sharps bolt gun here 87gr of Rel 7 getting 2868 fps ES 18 SD 7 sub moa groups.
Would a 25 Grendel void those problems?
100% yes
I have been using a Lee Single Stage Challenger for my bolt action 6.5 and 308 and with a stock Tikka T3 barrel and action I can get .25 moa with no wind. I always wondered if I need to invest into a RCBS or other more modern exp presses, but will I get any benefit out of it? Your test shows that if you use the same dies and loading process you will end up with almost if not identical results.
I have all brands of shellholders and this press prefers Lyman shellholders. I don't know if it's due to Lyman's having a larger diameter than any other brand or not, but that's what I think makes this press prefer them.
Thank you for this information I will order some to see if it helps!
@@theaveragereloader7222 They fit mine tight with no wobble or movement. All the others like RCBS, LEE, Hornady, Redding are basically the same dimensions externally and have wobble. Lyman shell holders are larger in diameter and have less height or at least visually they don't look as tall, but I've never measured them, regardless they're larger in diameter. They'll work with any press, but really shine in my F1... if I recall correctly they wouldn't work with the RCBS hand priming tool though. I'm really liking this press! I'm currently using it with the breechlock system to bulge bust and size bullets and for 12 ga. shotshells. I have large series die sets for brass and plastic/paper shells and this press has excellent clearance to use them.
Don feel bad brother, I just got 1500 pieces into a 15,000 round project of .223 but failed to have an expander ball in my RCBS die so I had to re-lube and resize all of them :-( keep up the good work I am going to buy a set of Hornady dies and an 18" 6mm Mongoose barrel form Mad Dog Weapons this week. I appreciate all that your doing.
loading for a .270 is easy, load 52.5gr of H-414, or Win 760 a CCI-250 primer, and any 130gr bullet, 3000fps, and if it won't shoot sub moa your rifle is defective
He did great work on my 762 SD and M4 2000!
Your right hand is changing runout readings on rcbs test so to be fair 😅
I my humble opinion: turning those cartridges that way by hand introduce runout. As I don't know for sure how that tester works I just say in general: it would be better for repeatable results to turn the cartridge by the black ball, as doing it touching the cartridge introduce lateral motion aswell as circular motion.
Impressive studio or work shop. I’ve read that your shell holder should be what the die manufacturer is. I’m not as fortunate as you to have so many higher items in my arsenal. One thing I suggest you get is a primer pocket gauge so you can tell what cases are getting sloppy pockets. Like your video as I need a press. I do 6 BR on a Savage action so I can change barrels as I have 3.
Nice .. 👍
Great song, true Americana
