The Parable of the Mustard Seed (God of miracles: small beginnings, great outcomes)
มุมมอง 282 หลายเดือนก่อน
The growth of Christianity from a small, insignificant, persecuted group of Jesus-followers, a rag-tag bunch of mostly poorly educated fishermen and craftsmen, with scarcely any riches or influence, into the world-wide movement it is now… the largest religious movement in existence, encompassing people from nations all across the globe, of every colour and tongue; this is nothing short of a God...

Technology is neither good, nor bad; but it is not neutral. There are 3 important Christian principles that would guide us in making our choices with regards to social media. 1. We are created in the image of God 2. We are created for community 3. We are created for communion with God

Philippians 4 - True Joy in God
มุมมอง 79ปีที่แล้ว
If we do not center our identity in what God’s Word tells us, we are beloved of God, we will constantly strive for attention and affection and identity from the world. True joy is thus found in being in relationship with God.

We may not be able to see how every detail of our lives fits together - God sees the whole picture. He knows the beginning from the end. We are a connected nation. Our devices are never far from our side. We use them so often (for better for worse), that for many of us, we even carry along a battery pack to charge our phones. A phone without power does not serve its purpose. We as human beings also need to be charged. Spiritually, we need to connect with God. God created us to have a friendship with Him. God gave us His Word, He...

Yep, salvation is a free gift. It’s not about us but about the Grace and Goodness of God who saves all of us by Grace and not according to our works or self righteousness
Thé younger son has still lost His inheritance . The father tells his older son that everything he has is his
Very good.. ( no need for background mood music to alter attitudes… that’s what Hollywood does. God’s truths will suffice)
you're forgetting one major detail... Why should anyone care what it says in the bible? If your answer is because the bible says so, then that's circular and illogical.
What a word 😇
I love pastor Keller🎉 Praising God for his life ❤🌍
It’s great to see Dr. Seat!!!
Wonderful!
what's the purpose of the annoying background music instrument for such a profound message as this
Why add music? I'm what way is it important for our taking in spiritual truth, or is it better to be worldly and make Christiam messages more entertaining?
I agree with you B, that's Timothy Keller delivering a profound message, no need for embellishment (annoying background music instrument)
because the music plays on people's emotions. If it weren't for the music, some people might not like this video. Sad. Yes I'm stating the obvious. Actually, Jesus' teachings are clear to those who have ears to hear. The music is unnecessary, you're 100% right. And at the end of the day, the message here is unnecessary as well. The best thing to do is to get alone with God and read the story and ask Jesus to explain it to you. MARK 4 "...and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples." :D blessings
how daft/thick/pedantic can u be ? u'd rather major on the minor, strain the gnat yet fail to realize that you're actually behaving like the older brother in that parable. Incredible ! Of all parables you pick to comment and nitpick on, u pick this parable ! Irony of all ironies...the msg of the parable completely flew over your big head...whoosh....the saddest/hilarious part is that you think ur doing everyone a favour by defending the faith...erm, wakey wakey nope ur not...ur exactly the type of reason why ppl can't come home cos the elder brother is standing in the way bible bashing every prodigal who wants to return home, with ur big letter of the law. Next time when u sing in church, don't. Or if u plant a church, sack the entire worship team or just tell them to lip sync the hymn book with no music at all, cos u know, the weight of the words of the 17th century hymnists cannot be distracted/drowned out by the silly, unnecessary notes and melodies. This isn't consumerism, how dare u. Guard the sanctity of the Word with your lives ! Guard it with your 5 swords of the Sola ! Guard it esp. from the filth of the low-life and sinful peasants !
this is a video that was designed for a study, professionally developed and oriented toward a specific audience, not a seasoned believer. I've seen the actual sermon which has no music behind it and in another church they played this video as part of a series for new members who are m=coming form a media rich life, it was a seeker church. The object lesson with the table is really great for people who have weak visual-spatial ability and struggle to visualize things.
wow!
The Eternal Word manifest in Flesh tells one parable in three parts in Luke chapter 15v3, to the Pharisees and scribes who criticized Him for having a meal with sinners who wanted to hear His words of welcome to those who wanted to be saved by His Grace, and the parable speaks about one lost sheep,in a flock of one hundred, sheep one lost piece of silver in a necklace of ten pieces, and one lost son in a family of two sons, In the first the shepherd leaves the ninety nine sheep to seek and find the one that was lost, notice the Shepherd finds this lost sheep and carries it home on His shoulders, the sheep does nothing to find itself, the same is true of the lost silver, the piece of silver does nothing to find itself, she sweeps and she finds it, but notice the contrast in the lost son, He decides to forsake His father and find his fun in a far country , having a hell of a time, literally, with harlots, but when he becomes destitude through hIs depraved behaviour He decides to go home to His Father , as forsakes the far country and decides to confess his unworthiness to be received as a hired hand, repenting of his former resolve to run away from home and from God, he is astonished by His Fathers Grace and Goodness , in Gift after Gift . The elder Son is grieved at His Father's Grace to his godless brother and laments about his Father's lack of Love for him year after year , as he loyally loved Him and never failed to comply with His commands, but his Father pleads with him to share in His happiness that his lost son has decided to come home , and tells His elder Son that He has delighted in his dedicated devotion to Him all of the years when he served His father , and promised him that all of his possessions would be his One thing more about this parable, found in v7, God has more joy over one sinner who repents, that he has over ninety and nine righteous people who do not need to repent

Very good message today! Things are getting more and more oppressive and chaotic in many countries.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life (John 5:24 NKJV).
Thank you Aaron. I shared your video on the Sunday after Christmas morning with family. I think it is excellent!
Thanks for your encouragement, Poh Lin! Have a blessed Christmas and new year!
Wonderful sharing.
Thanks brother!
bless you
Aaron does preach well. Greatness is not fame, achievements, success and wealth but to be able to live a meaningful and purposeful life serving others.

God does want us to obey, He says "If you love me you will keep my commands" How can the elder son be considered lost if he obeys the father? Obedience shows you love God according to the scriptures. The prodigal son story never says the elder son was lost in fact indicates the opposite.
Michael, he is lost because he had no love or respect for his father, no love or compassion for his repentant brother. His obedience was under self-perceived sufferance to what he wrongly considered to be a harsh father. He represents the works-oriented effort for salvation, but without love. He represents the Pharisees - who had obsessive, endless displays of obedience. But it was merely a 'form' of godliness but denying its power'' (2 Timothy 3:5 NIV)
@@27raimundo The father called the elder brother "son" and "that all that I have is yours" and "you have always been with me". Yes the elder brother was upset but that would be understandable in Jewish customs etc. This is not a pharisee vs humble repentant sinner coming to God. IMO this is a previously saved man returning to God through repentance while the elder brother was a faithful son that obeyed Jewish law. The pharisees kept the outer garment clean "the ceremonies, washing of hands, new moons etc but broke the 10 commandments, the the Holy law. The heart/spirit = 10 commandments, Outer garment/in the flesh = the law (ceremonial, hand washing, new moons, tithing, RELIGEON.) When you love God you obey Him, His commandments. (the inner man) The elder brother kept those, he wasnt spending his money on booze and women, he was obviously a commandment keeping son. The prodigal son was the commandment breaker and found favor through repentance, stopping his sin and leaving his pigsty. Hes not the hero here, this story shows Gods mercy and love for us. Remember the Father also says to the elder brother "your brother was dead but now alive". The implication is the elder brother was alive to His Father, the inheritance was his..
Im not sure how this guy can claim the elder brother was lost and alienated when the text says.. 31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours."
great wisdom
That creation account on the genealogy is really fascinating! I'd like to see what the full translation of it is... Read a book by Winfried Corduan, "In the Beginning," which argues for primitive monotheism on anthropological grounds. Wish I knew where to dig more into this stuff!
clarification: that should be "I read" (past tense), not "commanding" you to read it, although it's pretty good I guess!
I grew up hearing this parable and was always familiar with the grace given the younger brother by the father and the indignation of the older brother, the former a representation of God's grace toward us and the latter brother the representation of no matter how righteous and deserving one thinks they are, God's love is not based on works. I never heard this parable told in such detail and depth of what Christ was actually conveying to the audience and ultimately the world, the relationship between the the father and his two sons, and what or who they actually represent. Thank you for this insight. Thank you Jesus
You have done a given a good reason why Jesus should truly be our LORD.

Oh really?... I'm an African and I'm sooo offended
Hey, it's sarcasm pointing out that American Christians claim to want to serve God, but they don't want to be without their comforts. We pampered wimps don't realize that a lot Africa is what we would call modern, like Monrovia. Instead we think of people living in huts in the jungle, with no electricity, wearing loin cloths, eating bugs, constantly on watch against lions that want to eat us. Yet the Lord puts it in the hearts of some to abandon their luxuries and live in cultures that are quite alien (and primitive) to our way of thinking. And they follow faithfully. I hope you get to meet one someday and learn that some of us really are His disciples. May the Lord bless you richly.
I wondered if this song had stood the test of time. Maybe not. I will second the other poster who said the point the song is the stupidity and laziness of American Christians. Listen to other songs by Scott Wesley Brown. Lots about giving God everything and breaking walls down between people.
So profound and brings me to tears. Thank you Jesus
