Hague Bar Slip update 19.09.2024

Work is progressing well at Hague Bar. The down line is now back in, with much work loading rail trolleys going on. Road Rail vehicles are running on the down line as well. The embankment at Hague Bar is being reinforced with stone which is being brought up from the dump just down the road.
So all looking good to go on Monday morning when the trains will once again be running through New Mills Central to Sheffield, and won't be any longer diverted through Stockport.

This is the large stone dump at Disley Midland for use at Hague Bar, New Mills where the railway was slipping. It is loaded in lorries for the relatively short run to where the work is ongoing. See my previous video.

Progress on the railway at Hague Bar, New Mills where the embankment has had to be rebuilt after it started moving. Here we see the embankment has been stripped back and is having stone added to prevent it sliding. Turned out to be a much bigger job than originally thought. 66774 top and tail with 66767"King Cross PSB 1971-2021" with 6J56 Peak Forest Cemex to Hope St. The top and tail is necessary due to the derailment at Audenshaw (Stockport) which has closed the line, which could be closed for months if a new bridge is required!

We depart Portsmouth and see H.M.S Victory as we pass by. The tug S D "Christina" helps to turn us (Waverley has a very large turning circle) so that we face the harbour exit. The towers we pass were built as defensive positions, built around 1420. On the apron at Southesea sits one of the Hovercraft which ply to and from Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight. 14.8.24 On Anglesey near Bodedern there is a lovely peaceful lake. The walk round has plants, insects and the odd chirrup. As I got there a Heron took off which was a pity. It is on private property only available to campers. I hope that you enjoy the walk round with me. No music or commentary, just peaceful nature. ☺️🌞
