We sailed over from Perth to Melbourne on her and arrived last Tuesday... she's a wonderful ship.
If there is ever another movie about the Titanic they should make it something like this, a serious courtroom drama with testimonies from the Californian, Carpathia and Titanic, I think it could make a good change up for a Titanic film
great to see these episodes here. just noticed hornblower and crew leaving gibraltar under French flag?
Awesome capture. I also filmed it but I can't see my drone in your video. Cheers
Thanks Can you see my drone in any of your video? The only time I have spotted other drones in my video is when it is just after first light and before sunrise when you can pick up the flashing lights on the other drones.
Awesome capture. We must have been filming at the same time. We you on Princes Pier? Cheers
Had a great time working in the silver grill sorry to see her gone.grate days
Beautiful videography of my favourite Princess ship.
Thanks
Beautiful morning shots
Thanks Got airborne just after first light.
the original Titanic disaster film. Gripping in B and W, with period music and ominous looking sea. I would recommend this version more than the modern one (The Titanic) in colour, because somehow the modern version in colour does not strike real - may be everything is in high resolution, and luxurious colours...distracting. So, do really watch this to get a feeling of how the people in and out the ship, and how the society and the 'ship' itself felt!
and to think that P&O no longer exits having been owed by Carnival Cruises have decided to no longer operate
Very detailed ship
Awesome capture. The ships looks great with the lights on. I was going to film it in the morning but filmed it when it departed. Cheers
Thanks She arrived just after first light perfect timing to get her all lit up.
Memories, thank you for this. We travelled with Patris on the Easter of 1969.
1:02 How ironic she should be in a murder movie.
I think he was heartless because he wanted to be brutally raped by one of those irate chicks from the Titanic no other way to get asexual thrill ice navigation extremely accurate avoiding icebergs a piece a cake but those chicks troublesome read deal😂
QE2 in her short lived light gray hull
How can captain lord be so heartless? We will never know. Shame on him.
Captain Edward John Smith of the RMS Titanic (27 January 1850 - 15 April 1912)
Brilliant film and a fine performance by Burt Lancaster.
"All hands,👐 on deck!" ⚓
"Evasive maneuvers!" 📣
"Jerry torpedoes,🚀 🇩🇪 incoming!" "At the starboard side!" 👉
I find this video to be weird, and I don't know how authentic the information is. My understanding of 1912 was it wasn't fully established that they had flare colors definitely established for different messages, but distinct colors were assigned after the disaster. This would mean that white flares may or may not have meant that a ship was in distress. This was a time when the code 'SOS' was coming into play, and there was an older code still in use. Given the fact that Captain Lord got another job as captain a month later makes me think this isn't as clear as this video sets it out to be. The Titanic was going very fast through an ice field even though warnings had been sent. And the location of the wreckage in the mid-80s proved that the Titanic was actually several miles from where it claimed it was when it went down. And lastly, some have claimed that if the Titanic had drove straight into the iceberg instead of getting sliced from the side, just the front watertight compartment would have been smashed, but the ship would not have sunk. My contention is that this disaster is similar to many airliner disasters within the past few decades; they are basically a 'perfect storm' of many smaller things going wrong, instead of one big mistake having been made. If I could narrow it down to one major issue that caused the disaster, I'd say it was people taking warnings too lightly.
I'm supposed to build this for my brother. Hope it comes out half as nice as yours
Lord was scapegoated. It is easier than blaming the Titanic captain. Truth is, rockets did not mean anything in those years. In fact, white rockets often meant do not approach.
Way better quality on Movie Central TH-cam channel
Is this a reenactment of what happened word for word or dramatized?
rather word for word
I heard a few interviews from surviving people and they said, that they saw lights from a ship and had the confidence to be rescued. If it was not the californian, to be there and not to help is gruesome.
the only reason for the death of so many passengers was that the White Star Line was too confident of 'The Unsinkable' and they didn't put enough lifeboats in there. That's the sole reason of so many deaths. What if there were no ships anywhere near the titanic? What would they have done then?
Wonderful capture, nice smooth flying. Cheers
Many thanks!
It's important to state that some survivors of the Titanic reported having seen also the lights of a ship at about five miles away from them. Here's an interview the BBC took to Titanic's Fourth Officer Joseph Boxhall in 1962 (th-cam.com/video/44HJ5ggTPfQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cOnMce8ztH0mXo_d&t=486) Mr Boxhall says "I worked on the boat's covers, taking off the covers on the boat deck when I heard the crow's nest report a light on the starboard bow. I went to the bridge right away. I found this light with my own glasses but I wanted the telescope to define what it was and I realized then that it was two mast headtlights of a steamer below the horizon. And the lights where very close and I went back and told the captain: <<there's a steamer in sight very nearly ahead with its light on the starboard bow and if she continues on her course she'll pass close to us down the port side>>. And I asked the captain: <<shall I send up some distress rockets Sir?>> ...Then we started sending up these distress rockets, quartermaster and I on the bridge, but I never knew how many I had fired. I knew very well there were some in the box, the box holds a dozen and when I told the captain I said: <<there are still some in there Sir but I don't know how many I've fired.>> I didn't see any reply. Some of the passengers that were on the bridge said that they see any reply. We also called at this ship as she drew closer with a morse lamp, a very powerful morse lamp we had. And Eventualy this steamer aproached and aproached until you could see all lights with the naked eye and I should say that she must have been within five miles off. You could not only see her lights with the naked eye but could see the lights in her portholes, so I reckon that she must have been within five miles. And then eventualy she turned away and showed us her stern light."
was'nt one of the mystery's the reason the SS Californian did'nt go to the titanic was because the titanic's wireless operator Phillips was again being interrupted by the Californian cos Phillips was sending messages to cape race and Phillips had a argument with the wireless operator on the SS Californian or have i seen to many titanic movie's
the earth is round... so if the ship is moving away from you it will dissapear. OMG, those lawyers are some rly worst physics students.
it makes sense to use double red rockets to alert of emergency and green to comply to signal. Just my honest opinion, it would make sense to me. They white might just be markers of ship position that communicate with each other over wireless.
Nice work Burnie. Excellent quality video.
Thanks bro
1969 September i was in this ship with my family traveling to Australia Melbourne..i was 10....
We now know it wasn't the Californian who ignored the Titanic. It was Mt. Temple. The inquiry wouldn't listen or believe that the Californian wasn't in the same area. Officers from the Mt. Temple testified that they saw the Titanic, and could hear the screams and lifeboats being lowered. The Carpathia passed the Mt. Temple on their way to try to save the Titanic passengers. The Captain of Carpathia said the Mt. Temple did nothing at all to help. Not only that but there were pages missing in the Mt. Temple's log books and had appeared to have been re-stitched back together. The inqury used the Californian as a scape goat, and refused to believe the officers of Mt.Temple. why?
The mount temple theory was debunked already
That is incorrect. The Mount Temple was closer to the Titanic than the Carpathia, but definitely not as close as the Californian and the Mount Temple did not ignore the Titanic, she tried to dash to her rescue, but unfortunately, got lost navigating the iceberg fields. The Mount Temple also did not pass the Carpathia and Captain Rostron never said anything about the Mount Temple doing nothing to help. The Californian’s crew just saw the Mount Temple miles away in the distance and decided to head toward her after they finally awakened their radio operator to have him check on the messages so they could investigate further on that very curious event they were watching overnight and were informed about the Titanic disaster by the SS Frankfurt which was the wrong way to the Titanic’s location and the reason why the Californian didn’t reach the scene of the Titanic disaster until about 9:00AM about a half hour after the Carpathia picked up the last of the survivors.
Lovely job! You should be proud.
Thanks Have also built Bismarck and Shell Welder. Bismarck th-cam.com/video/_iAqLdnSl9o/w-d-xo.html Shell Welder th-cam.com/video/305YrjgHxo0/w-d-xo.html
I have been looking for this...
Wonderful capture :)
Thanks. Brett.
If Lord Truly testified as presented in this film, then he was a 1st class idiot 🤣
Traveled onboard this ship 70 ago from Basra to Muscat … great memories
Desde que se descubrió la posicion exacta donde reposan los restos del Titanic, se sabe ha ciencia cierta que el capitan del Californian mintió... Saludos desde España.
The crew of the Californian acted in an irresponsible way that cost the lives of hundreds- knowing that the policy or standard at that time was for ships to help each other out- as it was common that there were not enough lifeboats on most ships, by design- the lifeboats were meant to be used two or more times to ferry passengers to a rescue ship/boat that was nearby. the Californian was nearby. The Titanic, if at its passenger limit, had lifeboats for 1/3 of the passengers.
I don't believe for a minute any of these men wouldn't have steamed to the assistance of the Titanic had they really understood what was going on. They just fucked up..
The scrap log Book disappears, how convienient.
How loverly as well sad, to see these magnificent vessels which would have been manned by proper Merchant Navy colleagues who were all so professional and took great pride in their work and Service to this once great Nation. I must have been one of the last few blokes to sail into KG5on a Clan Line Vessel, the Clan Maclean and depart on her last voyage to South East Africa before being sold to a Chinese company and handed over in Mauritius and Columbo, Ceylon. I was Junior Engineer and those were the best days of my life. Thank you for your site. Kind regards to all those that understand what it meant to be part of this. God Bless. Bill Fogarty
What the heck, turn on radio say what s up with the rockets ? Also captain is a prick !
Actually the date was 1994 when it was hogh jacked, we were on the cruise in 1990 to Australia.
