A Psalm on St Claudine | From Sorrow to Mission
Psalm of St. Claudine Thévenet
O Lord, my God, You have written mercy upon the pages of time,
And in the darkest night of France, You raised a light,
A soul fashioned for love, a heart carved for sacrifice,
Your servant, Claudine, a witness of grace.
She walked the streets of Lyon, where terror reigned,
Where hatred silenced the innocent, and blood ran deep.
Her brothers, led to death, whispered their final plea:
"Forgive, as we forgive."
And in that moment, O Lord, You planted a seed-
A seed of mercy, a calling yet unseen.
Grief could have hardened her heart,
But You, O Lord, turned her sorrow into mission.
She looked upon the abandoned, the wounded, the lost,
And in their suffering, she found Your face.
How silently she labored, how humbly she served!
Not seeking glory, nor the praise of men,
Only desiring to heal the wounds of the world,
To make known the tenderness of her God.
From secret gatherings of love and learning,
To the birth of a family in Your name,
You built through her hands a house of refuge,
A home for the young, a place of peace.
The Congregation of Jesus and Mary-
A hymn of hope in a broken land,
A mother’s arms for the forsaken,
A dwelling of faith, of wisdom, of love.
O Lord, we praise You for the gift of Claudine,
For the courage You placed in her soul,
For the fire that could not be extinguished,
For the mercy that flowed like a river.
Teach us, O God, to walk in her way-
To forgive where there is hurt,
To heal where there is pain,
To trust when the path is unclear,
And to love, always to love,
As she loved You, to the very end.
