Dyno pull and RB26 single turbo swap plans for Alex's 1990 R32 GTR
Alex's 1990 Nissan R32 GTR is in the shop for us to remove the old stock twin turbo setup on his RB26 and swap it to a single turbo twin scroll Borg Warner with a Haltech Elite 2000 ECU and a few other goodies. We've been super busy in the shop so we hope to get more videos as these projects progress!

The R32 went under the knife and got a complete color change, some fresh interior pieces, a RB26 with a big single turbo, RB25 transmission and other supporting mods including a Haltech standalone ECU. What size is your intake piping ? And where did u get the split fires
Pre turbo 3" I believe and charge piping is around 2.5 to 2.75". We no longer use Splitfire coils, only R35

Was he running the stock transmission for this build?
Yes he was for about 7 days and the RB20 trans blew up lol. He then converted to new RB25 trans which we sell on our website.
I have one of your driveshafts going into my r32 gtst being built atm. similar motor build / hy35x (for now.)
Do they have oiling issues like the 25/26?
As long as you have a long nose crank collar, billet pump gears and loctite pump screws there are really no oil problems. Head drains and sometimes over filling the oil a little keeps pretty much all these engines happy under 500-600 hp. Once you get higher than that a better baffled pan is recommended.
What was the outcome here.?
We're so busy we don't have time to make videos and post sadly. We completed the car and it's been running and driving on our turbo kit for almost 2 years (as this video was posted late). @@lesco_brandon7094 you're welcome. We think for the cost of the turbo, there's little to nothing else that spools faster and makes the peak power this turbo does. Currently sitting at 575 hp on 24.5 psi at redline. 510 torque on 27 psi in the mid rpm range. Will turn more setups up power wise in the near future.
Rb26 swap a Supra
Got myself a Gtst type M recently and I really want to build the rb20 but everybody says go 25 , my 20 only has 22k original miles on it so I feel like I have a great base

Is it possible/safe to get around 350whp without going into the motor on rb20?
We recommend metal head gasket and head studs at a minimum. You could probably do 300 roughly unopened and it would last on a healthy engine.

I’m late to this but, may I ask what oil pump did you run on this build?
Standard OEM RB25 or RB26 housing with PRP billet gears. We sell these if you're looking for the same setup!

One more question. You mentioned you were running cp pistons, you mind sharing which cp pistons and compression ratio you were running if you recall?

@@dylancrumley1559 I understand that, but there had to be a cp piston model out of the multiple options they offer, same applies for the compression ratio. I don’t think he just slapped those pistons in the block not knowing the specs, hoping it runs right.

Nice work, turbo may be a little big. I’m making just over 400 on a built 20 but I got full boost at 3500 rpm goes to 8500. That’s in aus also

@@rleojeda spool rods, srp pistons, billet pump gears, cometic gasket and arp bolts everywhere, biggest cams kelford make. 6 boost and plazmaman manifolds 1250cc injectors and a Kinugawa td05 16g on 22 psi

Very clean car the paint looks amazing. Can't wait to see this one unfold. Two questions, what are the specs on the KNP's 17x9 or 17x9.5. Secondly how do you guys feel about the G4 link ecus🤔
We're excited for the end result as well! The wheels on his car are 17x9.5. We have only tuned 1 G4 link ECU and it went decently well. We would like to tune another at some point.

Just curious why not swap to an aftermarket intake manifold?
The customer wanted to keep the torque numbers as high as possible with the long runners of the OEM intake manifold. Front facing tends to drop torque and raise horsepower.
Respectable number power wise , but that curve is absolutely dreadful as you’d expect from a RB20 Capable of revving high but they just don’t have any low end guts to them mostly in part their tiny bore x stroke ratio Heads also breathe piss poorly , so you’d still ultimately had been better off investing in to an RB25
See an ok gain also if you put a bigger throttle body on it. And 10-15 more psi. ;)
Semi built it sounds like, did you get all of the rotating assembly (with clutch) balanced?
Not that its fair, but my stroked rb24 will make 700+ lol

Is it okay to over build the fuel system like get 1000cc injectors but run a low DC. Just rather over build incase I wanna increase power eventually
Yes it's ok to run 1000cc if you don't need it all at the moment. We don't suggest a smaller size very often to be honest.

I’ve got a 20 on about 22psi.. making 371 on Nistune and ethanol. What plugs/gap are in that thing? I’m getting a bit of spark knock..

Hey Bryce, We use NGK BKR7E and gap to .022". I doubt your plug type and gap are causing spark knock. It's hard to make these engines knock on e85 even if tuned wrong. Maybe the knock sensors are bad, faulty wiring or your timing sync is off. Also make sure your ethanol content is 65 or above.

New subscriber here from Florida . I love how methodical you are w your vehicles. Have a r33 hopefully on the way to driver motorsports and want to get it to 325/350 but man these damn things are expensive to get there safely lol. I can always hope though. Keep up the skyline vids!

How did you test the mishimoto vs the koyo?
A customer of ours has driven the tail of the dragon twice in his R32 GTR. Once with a Mishimoto and another time with a Koyo. With his Haltech CAN gauge he noticed a 15 degree difference in temps driving the car pretty hard both times. He installed the Koyo hoping to drop his temps and it worked.
@@countersteerllc9009 both installs had the rad only in variation? Was the weather similar? I imagine in a strip car it would not affect that much?

Mishimotos pretty much low quality tbh. Heard wild storys, had their drainplug on mine and the head broke off at not even 20nm
@@countersteerllc9009 do you know what radiator you went with? On the koyorad site it only shows the RB26 radiator
25psi with that turbo on e85 with 1000cc injectors? Arent injectors over 100%DC?
That is the correct boost, fuel and injector size we ran. Only took 79% duty cycle.
It would be, pop it on a Aussie dyno and watch this only make around 400-450rwhp
