Wow! I was there in May. Where abouts were you guys at the start of this video? By Beaver Falls? Or Mooney?

Thanks for sharing. I just went in May and the whole time I was hiking I was looking for safe ground if something like this were to happen. What a scary situation. Glad to see you and those others get out safely.

Thanks for the video..Crazy for sure. My bet is TheTribe will not be able to open up Havasupi to campers for a year. Happy Birthday..

Good job on the filming and editing and thank you for no vertical videos. Glad you guys found high ground in time. Lake Powell is smiling.🍻

I've done this hike with 3-4 days in the Havasupai Canyon twice in the past. It is like the Graden of Eden. Unfortunately, every 8-10 years they get one of these monumental flood events. Clearly you need to prepare for such a contingency as much as possible ahead of time. Think about, and look for, escape routes as you hike down into the canyon and if you see any rise in the water level take it seriously and begin getting to higher ground immediately. I feel really bad for those people who were lost.

This is exactly why I dont "hike into" places especially during monsoon season in the canyons...NOOOO THANKS! Glad you made it~

It is great you had time in your heart and mind for the tribal members.

Thank you for posting this. Crazy how often this is happening since the 1990s. Not just in Monsoon, either.

You guys are very lucky to be alive. The second part of the video where you hike upstream into the fast rising water with nowhere to bail out is just terrifying. Thankfully it didn't get any higher or stronger while you were in that danger zone. A lifelong desert hiker, I've seen many flash floods in my time and it's insane how fast and strong water can crash down all of a sudden.

That's crazy to hike that close to a flooding creek. Bad choice!

Tourists stay home? Locals had to be evacuated also. Should the locals not have been there either or should they not be allowed to live on their native land because of occasional flash floods? Blaming anybody is just dumb.

I'm glad you're safe. As a local and native to this area of Arizona, there is more to just being fit to hike the supai. Education of the dramatic unpredictable Arizona weather and Flash Floods during the monsoon season is of the most importance. I personally wouldnt hike any canyon in AZ in the monsoon. It's the unknown.

Wow just Wow! Glad you most folks made it out safe. Jerry Arizona talks about the power of flash floods often - they are no joke. Be well and happy birthday. May the families of those who perished find peace.

Thanks for posting. You guys must have been right up the road from us hiking back to town. Road was mostly drained by the time we went through but looks like you guys had a heck of a time trekking through that river. A birthday you’ll never forget I’m sure.

Its a miracle that the Supai Tribe still exists... must have good connections with the Great Spirit.

I did but it was dark. Didn’t think I’d ever be riding in a Blackhawk again. Especially in shorts and T-shirt!!

Wow! What an adventure that you two lived through. Glad you and the other hikers kept a good eye on each other. Were you able to take any video during your flight out?
