@ I just put down new vinyl plank. First time, and had some struggles drove me crazy and just wish there had been solid wood under the carpet. lol got lucky like that once before and would rather sand and refinish than do something new. But it’s what you like at the end of the day!

Lvp really does not expand much once acclimated unless there are drastic changes in temp. The expansion can go in 3 other directions once attached to the nosing.

Great question! Remember that the 8x is much more expensive so we only suggest what is needed on a job. The company will always try to sell you on a more expensive product so here was our research, experience and decision making process: The 3x is already 3x stronger than their competitors. We like the drying time it offers and that it will spread slightly to fill gaps. We apply it in big zig zags and "smoosh" it flat. The initial cure for the "expansion" is 30 min and we have never seen expansion that makes anything "uneven" The 8x is very hard to squeeze out and most DIYers dont have the consistent hand strength to use it effectively. It also has a low level odor that homeowners are not a fan of for quite a while. When you look to the producer they only recommend the 8x for installation on vertical surfaces without support or the need for a concrete like finish. We are not needing that. While our installs are super long lasting we recognize styles change and in 10-15 years a new finish might be desired. After the extensive labour to remove tile and concrete on other jobs, we don't wish that for any future removal on the stairs. But for your install it is up to you! Hope the info helps!

Not sure what your definition of toxic is. It is approved for use in Canada. You can always read what it is made of?

@Stepupvinyl I've been reading there's formaldehyde and other toxins in it and I planned on putting it in a room that gets really hot in the summer.
