    Hacks!, you can push the boot into the interior of the vehicle and get access to the wires, put shrink tubing on the wire before soldering.

    Great job, my only suggestion would be to use shrink tubing instead of electrical tape. Have had this problem on both sides of my 2004 Grand Cherokee.

    I believe this has happened to my 2004 wj. Good video thanks. Dumb question but do I disconnect the battery before doing this?

    • @jqzIII
      @jqzIII 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup. When working with wires or nearly anything on a vehicle... remove a battery cable. Depends on model. Newer one with computers... can be messed up if disconnected. I am not a pro. Just a dude. That has fried lots of stuff for not disconnecting a battery.

      @JF32304 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessary. It's not house current. I've delt with this before. (Hate that Jeep's have this problem) just splice and solder and you're good. You won't get shocked. It's 12v DC. Perfectly safe.

    • @benh6299
      @benh6299 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would. Always a good practice to remove the battery before working with electrics.

    you do not have to cut the boot just push it threw you cave man my god stop hacking stuff up and take your time do it right you don't want the water or any moisture getting in where it can cause more damage

    I found your video very helpful. Thank you ! But after working on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee i found it was much easier to unplug the harness from the door, remove the interior trim panel and slide the whole rubber boot and harness through the chassis to the interior of the vehicle this gave me greater access to the wires and a lot more room to work . Reinstalling the boot was very simple .

    THANK YOU. In addition to the door issues being caused by the ground being broken, my hydraulic fan oddly recieved power again. I was about to get a whole reconstruction! Not sure how that happened, but it seems to have fixed several of the issues we were having!

    Daughter just bought a 2004 last week, knowing the window switches were occasionally failing. Today, they stopped working completely and the interior lights would not shut. The system would chime when all doors were closed to alert the owner a door wasn't shit... I figured the wiring was gone, possibly in the boot, but didn't know where to start. One quick search and I watched your video... BOOM. Exactly the issue. Fixed it as you did (what a pain as the wire broke off so deep in the jamb!) and all is good again. THANK YOU.

    You have to be kidding me!!!! The thicker black wire on mine broke along with the red/white wire for the left rear window. For the last few years you could only use the windows when the door was almost closed. fixed and now works like a charm!!! Thank you so very much! This was the first video I looked at too!!
