First time I listened to this back in 1962 or1963 was on an AM radio riding with my parents in the countryside 8 miles west of Lodi California in the 1954 Chevy back then and it was one of my favorite boyhood songs then and now in 2024 as a 67 y/o. As a little boy it inspired me to want to fly in the air back then, now in 2024 it's so treasured and it's still buried in my memory of my awesome boyhood days living in the country in rural California growing up with 11 brothers/sisters as me being number 9. Thank you for posting this video.
Nobody knows where my Johnny has gone, But Judy left the same time. Why was he holding her hand, When he's supposed to be mine? It's my party and I'll cry if I want to, Cry if I want to, cry if I want to. You would cry too if it happened to you. Play all my records, keep dancing all night, But leave me alone for a while, 'Til Johnny's dancing with me, I've got no reason to smile. It's my party and I'll cry if I want to, Cry if I want to, cry if I want to. You would cry too if it happened to you. Judy and Johnny just walked thru' the door, Like a queen with her king. Oh, what a birthday surprise, Judy's wearing his ring. It's my party and I'll cry if I want to, Cry if I want to, cry if I want to. You would cry too if it happened to you. Lyrics
I once had an 8 track tape this I played all the time. After hundreds of times playing it fell apart on the inside. I was unable to find a replacement.
I remember when this came out in 61 it sounded like nothing else on the radio. I was fortunate to see him live in Greenville SC the following year when he had several hits. Always been a favorite of mine.
I can barely remember it in the 60s. Was only 8 when the song came out. But really registered with me in American Graffiti. Always heard it in the back of my mind. So many different instruments but I can definitely hear the baritone sax in the background.
As a 15 year old in England this was , and still is, at 78, my all time favourite pop song. But I could only hear it on my tinny little transistor radio. There was no teen music on normal channels in those days. For many decades I thought the line was " to the ball and I feel the pain" not " tears are fallin...: 😂😂😂
Here I am at 80 years of age and this song has been in my memory since I first heard it. Over 60 years ago. Letterman commented that the song always sounds fresh. He was right.
hello Cadillac so you heard this song in the movie American Graffiti in 74'.I remember when the song first came out in '61.I was 10 years old when the song came out.

At six years old this was the first rock n roll song that registered with me and still does sixty six years later.

Same here! Our era had the best music!
Back in the days of real music.
One of my all time favorites
Yes, it is a great song. Something I found is that the instrumental part sounds a lot like the " Lost in Space " theme from the early 60s.
I agree and I’m “only” 79!
I bought this 45 record way back then. So much endless 60's blessing the land from the boring previous years. Bring it on, bring it back.
Die 50er waren langweilig ? Hahahahaha 👎
What a champion! Beautiful!
My only question is why is he using a guitar as a bow tie?

Moda noviembre 2024 y siempre

Good with lipsing but rotten with the chords. He forgot the whole thing.
