      Hi Mike. Thanks for checking in with me on my channel. All things being equal, the spark plug is new and tested good, the new coil is good and the air gap is correct.. try these suggestions: 1st unplug the small wire from the coil, this is the ground wire/kill switch, turn over the engine, still no spark. Check the oil, make sure it's full, then unplug the low oil switch, try Turning over the engine again. Still no spark, thoroughly clean the flywheel magnets and make sure the flywheel, crankshaft keyway and flywheel line up. Still no spark, replace the coil, again.

    This seems like a honest video from what I know about clone saws..I looked into building some of these a few years ago but after watch most every video on you tube I chose to buy older name brand pro saws and restore them.In my experience of restoring older saws I tried a few of these parts and found as you said the handle to be weak.I also found the rear handle would break much easier than OEM .But one thing that I did find that wasn't mentioned what the starter recoil assembly on these and Husqvarna clones have been total junk in my experience.I need recoil assemblies occasionally when restoring older muscle saws and so far every cone starter I've tried failed quickly when put on a name brand saw ...I think that OEM is over priced for parts but they do last...When I first considered building a clone I weighed out all the cost in replacing starter assembly ..handle ... compression release and other things .....so for me it wasn't that great of a value ....I looked into building a clone Husqvarna 288 and found the clone crank metal to be soft. IMO ....I think these clones are great for fun and great for guys that want to pretend to Thier buddies that they have a pro grade sthil or Husky .I cut firewood to heat my home so I don't make a living with a saw but I do use it to keep warm and need it to do what I bought it for..It's frustrating to need your saw and break the whole starter assembly or break off the handle ....I think these are great for the two types of people I mentioned...I also think you were honest about these saws but people need to be honest with them self as to how hard they will be on a saw....Anyone in need of a 90 cc class saw surely can't be planning on not working the saw hard

    • @garrytalley8009
      @garrytalley8009 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not everyone works a saw hard. And even some people have done well working clones hard if they are fortunate enough to get a good one, break it in properly and not overwork it while breaking it in. They have some clones now that do have some better parts in the problem areas for a little bit more in price. Certainly nothing wrong with rebuilding a name brand saw reconditioning it. It can be pricey with all OEM parts though. I have just purchased the FarmMac the upgraded version of the Neotech. Nice saw, certainly not as good as the real deal, but it will work fine for my needs. I do have a few other saws that are Echo's. This one will not be a primary saw and I certainly am not into spending more than a thousand dallars to get a Stihl.

  • @johnclarke6647
    @johnclarke6647 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you think a seal is leaking, get it running and spray break cleaner into the area you think is leaking. If it is leaking, the saw will die right then. You can spray it around the clutch to check the PTO side seal, around the flywheel to check the flywheel seal, around the boot to check it, etc. you do not have to disassemble anything to do this test.

    More info (specs) on these saws would be nice. Are you having to meet any EPA regulations with them? My plastic 371xp has held up remarkable well for 26 years. I think most of it is how they are taken care of. My saw still looks almost new and a friend of mine has one, that's been run way less, and it looks horrible and almost never runs properly.

  • @thomasgronek6469
    @thomasgronek6469 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the vent is a one-way air inlet, and really shouldn't leak, but yes. It will build pressure since it's one-way, when one is outside in the Winter all day, fills the oil tank with icy cold oil, then brings the saw into a warm garage, or bedroom

  • @thomasgronek6469
    @thomasgronek6469 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. The screw that you are turning has a cam lobe, which changes the length of the pump piston stroke. The pump is a piston pump, which rotates and simultaneously moves in and out (left and right) for pumping the bar lube. There is a roll pin at your index finger, tap that out, then remove the adjusting screw. then pull off the end cap, and slide out the piston (that's the shaft with the worm gear on it), that might help clarify my explanation. note: I think the roll pin only comes out in one direction, so inspect it removal. Also, if the bar lube is too thick (Many , if not all, of the older saws require lighter oils, like 20w. It would not surprise me if they were really designed to run used motor oil (I use new oil only) ), if the lube is high viscosity, too much pressure is built up because the transfer isn't fast enough, that pressure causes many leaks, in many places, especially on the old saws. I run strait 20W oil in my old Stihl saws.
