Jonathan Bailey Singing - Getting Married Today - Stephen Sondheim's Company (London Cast Recording)
Jonathan Bailey, Alex Gaumond, and Daisy Maywood singing "Getting Married Today" from Stephen Sondheim's musical "Company" (2018 London Cast Recording)
----------------
Jonathan Bailey originated the gender-swapped role of Jamie in the 2018 West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's "Company" and won a Laurence Olivier Award for his performance.
Sondheim was enamored by Bailey's widely acclaimed portrayal expressing: "... the last scene of Act I (which is now two guys) will completely shatter you, as well as it being one of the funniest scenes on record. All due to [Jonathan Bailey], the guy who plays Jamie, the Amy-equivalent."
Per Variety, Bailey's "lightning-fast, show-stopping rendition of the song became a must-see West End event".
Bailey was unable to join the Broadway transfer due to prior commitments to Netflix's "Bridgerton" which made him a global star. In 2022, "Company" director Marianne Elliott directed him again, this time in the acclaimed and smash hit production of the play "Cock" in the West End.
