I've been building my skills as a woodworker as a part-time hobbyist during a lifetime of other professional endeavours. My small home-based basement shop has been the home to many a joy and frustration. I don't have all the fancy tools, but I have most of what I need... I don't get free sponsorships, but boy would that be nice!! I hope this channel connects me to a community of woodworking hobbyists where, as part of my contribution, I will share with you some of the fun this hobby has provided me and hopefully helps you figure out how to do incredible things without all the advantages of full-time work or a mega-shop!! Don't get me wrong, I love watching the accomplished professionals, I learn from them and go green with envy at their shops, personal skill and achievements. I just, necessarily, have the approach of the hobbyist, where every project requires some new skill or tool or both. Let's have some fun makin' sawdust!

Attach Berco Snowblower to John Deere X350 Lawn Tractor
มุมมอง 20K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi, this video shows the seasonal attachment of the Berco Snowblower to my John Deere X350 Lawn Tractor. It went a bit longer than I hoped, but just use your forward arrow button to "10 second advance" over the bits that don't interest you! Of other interest might be the "Detach Berco Snowblower" if it is springtime. You can find that here: th-cam.com/video/DcEZu_wks78/w-d-xo.html Also, if you ...
Detach Berco snowblower from lawn tractor

Detatch a BERCO (Bercomac) Snowblower with Subframe with Electric Lift (& Drive Mechanism) from a John Deere x350 Lawn Tractor for summer use. The Subframe is left in place for the summer. I was looking at the 370 due to the power steering/power lift. My question on the 350 is with the blower attached how do you find the steering effort without power steering?
@@mrvoyagerm No issues with steering. With the blower lifted, it turns on a dime. With the blower down, you turn fine, as you would expect with the blower down. The only time steering is an issue is if the front wheels are slipping on ice. 350 was great, and we had a large driveway/parking area where we got a lot of snow.
I have a Deere X390 and wondering if each bercomac unit has to come with a specific "kit" for attachment to different models and brands of tractors?
@@scottwoodworth8674 Sorry, I’m not sure. I was a simple owner, not a dealer.
Was thinking of having a tarp down before lowering the deck. Can then pull on the tarp and not have the deck scrape directly on the concrete. Might protect the paint on the bottom of the deck?
Can't hurt, but I'm not sure it is necessary. All good.
@@PatJHeffernan Thanks for your reply. Cheers!
Nice job!!
@@richardb7093 Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to show this process. Very helpful 👍🏼
Thanks. Glad it was useful.
Would a x 300 john deere pull that snow blower kawasaki 18 horse twin
@@garyposthuma9607 Sorry, I’m not familiar with this and would only be guessing.
This was super helpful. Thanks! I have a Cub Cadet XT2 and the steps were almost identical
Thank you, so much appreciated
Question: My electric snowblower head is jumping out. Do you know why?
Great Video Mr. Heffeman, I've got a 05 JD LT150 tractor , the process of Spring removal/Autumn add on, was such a hassle for me as I aged became small nightmare to do. Greatly appreciate some Bercomac owner taking time to show us all how to do this. Thank you sir. I purchased another JD, E130 dedicated to grassmowing, so I dont have that job anymore, happier snowblower now. Thanks again.
Thanks Pat. This was helpful.
How did it do with no diff lock? Get stuck a lot?
Not really. Takes pretty bad conditions to get stuck. I do use chains.
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I had bought a lawn tractor with the blower already on and no manuals. I have a slightly different Berco, but I was able to easily figure it out with your video helping
If you have a mulch kit installed, that hose connection will not do anything. The left chamber is sealed off from the rest of the deck by the baffle underneath.
Just doing some research. I plan to pick up a used X300 w/44" Bercomac blower this coming weekend. I enjoyed seeing your clear views of what goes on. Thank you.
Excellent.
Thank you! Cheers!
Excellent.
Thanks!
We're you adjusting the lift assist spring when you were using the impact to attach the front shackle?
Not sure what you mean by lift assist spring… the only spring I can think of adjusts tension on the belt to the Power Take-off.
Look into a lift assist spring. Makes lifting the snowblower a lot easier
Does the Berco come with everything you need including the winch? Or do you have to purchase that separately? I have a JD X390 and want to get a Berco snowblower
I do know there are a couple different mounts for the snowblower and the winch/mount assembly has a separate manual from snowblower. This implies that the mount is an option/separate from the thrower. (I bought mine from the dealer as a package/installed so I am not certain). It's a great snowblower, you'll be happy with it.
Hi! I enjoyed your video and it was very helpful but at they end you did not show how to connect the snow blower pulley I don’t know ?
Hey Will, check the Berco manual that came with the blower, it has a diagram that shows it lines up. Cheers
Hey Pat, do you have any steps you take for maintenance wise with the blower for the off season? First year out.
Hi Charl. I don’t do anything special. Oil the contact parts (pivot points and chute rotation), check gearbox oil and verify wear/adjustment on the cutting edge and skid shoes. Finally, look over your winch cable (mine has an electric winch that raises and lowers the blower) and inspect your belts when you remove them. That’s about it. I was thinking about doing a general oil change video for the x350,… happy to do a quick annual maintenance on the blower if you think it would be worthwhile. I was planning on shifting over from winter to summer this weekend.
@@patheffernan3418 Would be great if you had the time. Thanks for the help!
2:40 starts the actual process. Beginning to the 2:40 mark is blah, blah, blah….
Fair…
then move on or make your own video
Much the same steps for my Craftsman (built by Berca too). I've had it for 11 years and it works great. I've had to do some repairs from time to time, but it's blown a lot of snow. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from New Brunswick, Canada
Thanks! I’ll be happy when it is time to swap it back to cutting grass in the next little while! 😜. Cheers!
@@patheffernan3418 lol...yeah it's getting to be THAT time of year for us too.
Oh, I think I will stick with the snowplow for my X350 & continue to use my father's 1999 walk being snow thrower. That looks like allot of things to attach every season. Do you have the snow cab for your X350?
Really it is about a 10 to 15 min process in the spring and then the fall. It was intimidating the first time, but rather simple after that. But whatever works is great… keep that 1999 snow thrower throwing!! 😌. No snow cab here, have never really thought it necessary… though on a windy day I’ve been known to break out the ski goggles!!
@@patheffernan3418 - When I bought my X350 January 2016 from the dealer, they suggested I get the plow as I have a gravel driveway. I also wanted a package deal with the plow, weights, chains, cab and bagger as I wanted a 4-season machine. Like my father did with his MTD tractor. But he didn't have the bagger, he had the tow behind sweeper instead. The plow does good at scraping the snow & ice off the drive.
@@weathermannax416 Sounds awesome!!! We got our drive paved two summers ago which is ideal for the blower. It also allows me to avoid the big pile of snow a plow builds up that lasts half the spring. 👍🏻
@@weathermannax416 When I was a kid I used Dad's JD 300 with a blower on a 450' gravel driveway and when it was not frozen you could send some gravel away onto the lawn but once frozen no worries. My oldest brother inherited that 1972 machine and used it until he sold it last year. Not too bad eh.
Nice video Pat. Can you make a video in the spring of putting the deck back on?
Thanks! Sure, I can do that. It’s real easy putting it back on. I think I’ll also do shorts on doing an oil change and adding tire chains just for fun.
Thank you so much.
You’re welcome. I’m glad you found it helpful. 👍🏻
Very good thanks for sharing, hope you get a chance to do a action video. I've been using a jd blower on my x360 seems to work pretty good......I often wished I'd would have got the berco..
My dealer only carries the Berco, our good fortune. I have a long drive that needs to a good snowblower in the absence of contracting the snow removal. I've seen some options online to put an electronic switch to rotate the chute... would be nice.
@@patheffernan3418 Go for it..........
@@patheffernan3418 Berco quoted me at just about $4K for the blower, drive box winch assembly, electronic shoot, 150lbs weight, brackets, and delivery. Do you honestly think it's worth it?
Are you going to install it back on in the fall?
Yes, will do it this weekend or next. Do you think it worthwhile filming it being put back on?
@@PatJHeffernan Yes I do, There's not alot of info. on BERCO and JOHN DEERE..
@@hydrospeedex ok, will do!
@@PatJHeffernan OK.......I'll b watching for it.....Thanks,
@@hydrospeedex Dismounted the mower deck and washed up the machine and deck yesterday. I’ll pick up an oil filter this week and do an oil change and mount the blower next weekend. It’ll take a couple hours to edit it down to something succinct. 👍
