    my former dog was a male poodle, and this dog was intuitive to a fault and when he died, I knew I would never find that kind of sensitivity in another dog. Make a long story short: a female boxer/ pit mix found me, and she changed my mind.in a years' time, I'm more enamored with her than any dog I have ever known. I guess I can now attribute that to her gender

      It sounds like your dog has found a sweet and clever way to communicate when they want attention! Many dogs develop their own unique ways of asking for affection, and nuzzling or lifting your hand are common signs that they trust you and enjoy your company. It’s one of the great things about dogs they have such a special way of bonding with us!

    I have been a part of a dog loving family for years and years and I partly agree with you on the lasst one about firewall but the dog we have now thinks every time he hears some rumbling or bladt like thunder selebration cannon gunn shots fireworks or wat ever he thinks it's a hunting going on and gets quite frustrated that he can't go out there looking for the animal that fel during the hunt he also stands raised up on two legs placing his forvlegs on the top of the fence to get a better look over the cenary during the new year celebrations in my navorhood but I am living in South of Norway

      @TheDogBrain-p2f 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      It sounds like your dog has a strong prey drive and is very tuned in to the sounds around him! Dogs with hunting instincts can often get excited or frustrated by loud noises like thunder or fireworks, thinking it signals a hunt. It’s impressive how he stands on two legs to check out the scene he must be quite determined! Living in South Norway must provide some beautiful scenery for him to explore, even if it gets noisy during celebrations. You’ve got quite the adventurous companion!

    Before getting a dog, people should also be aware that a puppy is (not: can be) very exhausting and a dog in general needs a lot of attention and quality time. Puppies bite and destroy just everything in the house when teething, and on walks they try to eat every garbage they find. It will end after some months, though. Grown up dogs need their walks at least twice per day around 1 hour each time, no matter how the weather is or if their owner has a hurting leg or the plague. If someone can't cope with all this it is better to get a cat or no pet.

    • @TheDogBrain-p2f
      @TheDogBrain-p2f 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      You’re absolutely right puppies are adorable, but they’re also like tiny, furry hurricanes of chaos! They’ll chew on anything that isn’t nailed down, and those walks? Rain, snow, or apocalypse, they’re happening! Owning a dog is definitely a big commitment, but the rewards are so worth it. And if someone’s not up for the challenge, maybe a low-maintenance cat is the way to go!

    thought, our Lab girl is only one year old and really bouncy, when her humans are stressed, she indeed just lays down on the couch or floor and waits silently, no jumping or running like she usually does. I never really recognized it, but now, that yo mentioned it, I am impressed.

    I call BS on the first one. Say that when you have a dog with a broken tail. And BS on the fireworks/loud noises, too. It's cruel not to train your dogs to be chill when loud things happen in this world all the time. If you haven't bonded with your dog well enough for them to look to you as to how to act/respond to things and situations, it's one of those "shame on you" situations. Maybe it's a situation where is the dog is a rehab and was mistreated or lived a very rough life on the streets getting stuff thrown at him shoot away or whatever maybe the dogs got trauma over loud noises. Step up your game and learn about bonding in these situations. I successfully bonded with a hostile beaten, mistrustful, wild and feral acting pup [3 1/2 yrs to rehab til fear free and I could pet her at will*] was never afraid after realization dawned to start watching me was the key to learning how to act. * this poor pup was a mess to figure out. All the standard things didn't work. One day I was trying to initiate play - not in dog fashion - and was speaking out my frustration and thoughts out loud but in a kind babytalk voice and said "oh, I just wish I could just (complete with hand gestures) give you a good old scritchy-scatch on the neck and ears, Lovey Dovey!". And she took a very quick 3 or 4 steps - I thought she was going to attack me again - and stepped right in between my hands doing the motion! It was a Glorious Breakthrough! But I still had to put out scritchy-scatch hands for her to approach me. For about 3 and 1/2 years I couldn't really trained her, all I could do is bond, bond, bond. I would give her little growls or grunts of disapproval, basically acting like a mamadog. I even mimic regurgitation for bonding by dropping chewed food out of my mouth on the floor for her to eat. It was like magic. In the first week I figured that out. She hadn't had much contact with her own mother, she was kept across the room from her by an ignorant puppy spanking 18 year old girl. The dog's mother had a beaten spirit, and the girl was oblivious to the fact that the dog more than likely wanted to kill her at one point but was so "beat down" that she lacked the gumption, or rather, I should say always had puppies to look after - had she been allowed to do it, that is. The girl kept 12 to 15 puppies in a space hardly bigger than two men's size 12 hightop shoe boxes put together, and picked them up and spanked them when they squabbled like puppies do. I don't mean play spank, I mean like she was trying to smash them in her hands by clapping them to death. I would have attacked her except that I had already seen how her man handled the 6-month-old bullmastiff. If he had raised a hand to me, I probably would have peed the carpet too, and then it have to beat me for that as well! I reported them to every agency that I could think of...to 0 avail!

    • @TheDogBrain-p2f

      Thank you for sharing your experience! Every dog's journey is unique, especially those with traumatic pasts. Bonding takes time, and it's amazing you put in the effort to help that pup heal. Training isn't always easy, but patience and understanding go a long way.

    These are mostly common sense and come naturally for anyone that truly cares enough about their dog to pay attention. If someone is really delinquent on most of these, that person probably is not innately qualified for dog ownership.

    Since no one is speaking up for the male dogs I will. There has always been a bias against the male pups. I love my male pups. I have had several fantastic ones over the years! I disagree with you on the quick to learn thing. My maltipoos and Maltese have been fantastic learners the male ones that I have had in the past. Males are also disproportionately represented at shelters as well because they are very much misunderstood. I hope you will do a Males only video to give a more balanced perspective Thank you

    1. Giving importance to what they feel is important. For instance, when I go on walks, my dogs always spend an extra minute sniffing the scents on the road. I don’t pull them away immediately even if it feels dirty. To my dogs, it is an important part of their day - knowing the world outside. 2. Leash free time. As a reward for being good for n number of days, I let them have leash free experiences outside. I show them that I trust them. And the leash is only for their protection and not a restraint. 3. I make them part of the conversation. In general, I operate on the belief that dogs are wise and are able to understand everything. The Golden is still young, but with my Pomeranian, I can genuinely share anything and everything. I also make it a point to understand his perspective, his character and his ideals even… He is only 12, but I believe he is a big brother to me. And I can depend on him. This is possible for every dog. Dogs can be much more that a typical dog owner imagines. When they stop thinking about what they need or where they want their dog to fit in into the blueprint of their life…when they actually learn to trust and depend on the dog just as the dog trusts and depends on them… When they learn to have genuine, deep and meaningful conversations with their dogs….that’s truly a blessing.

    My male dog will make a low, quiet growly sound when I haven't shared the food I am eating when he thinks I should. I usually give him a bite if the food is okay for him to eat too, then take a bite or two myself. If I take a 3rd bite without sharing, then I hear that cute low, growly sound. My female rescue just hit 2 months with me and has started showing behaviors indicating a stronger bond. Oddly, she went into her crate to pee instead of to the door. She's 9 months old and was a stray. I thought she just had it sneak up on her as she was in the crate getting a toy. Odd for a dog to pee where they sleep. After seeing this I'm thinking it may have been another behavior indicating her growing bond. Still odd. She'd had a urinary infection when I found her and had a couple accidents because urinating was uncomfortable and she'd hold it until she just couldn't anymore. My first thought was that the infection was back. The more I thought about it, tho4, it seemed like an intentional choice to pee in the crate.

      It sounds like she's still adjusting and learning to trust. Could be a mix of habit and bonding behavior. Monitoring her closely, especially considering her past UTI, is a good idea.
