I'm not paying for service I'm paying for product and the product has to be prepared legally to temperatures that are safe for human consumption. Starbucks would have a hell of a time with a self-service station. They're not selling the service they're selling the product. It is no different than buying something off with the shelf. There are lots of things that are going to happen behind the scenes that will be done to the product or to the facilities that provide the product. For example I'm not tipping the person who stocks the shelves of a grocery store, I do however recognize that it's a hell of a demanding job physically. I'm also not tipping the person who has to stand behind the cash register all day and ring up my groceries. These people are simply doing their jobs.
