I'm sure you figured out by now that this dude had an agenda. He had no intentions on things remaining just friends. You were his solution, his come up, his plan A to get his life straightened out. He kept creating reasons to approach you because he was trying to suck you in and groom you into the girlfriend space. A lot of women love to mother men, feel sorry for them, feel needed by them and do for them. That was what he could do, that was available to him, to get your attention, get under your skin and appeal to you.
