You took the fish out of the water too long. You damaged it's lung and brain. It may not survive after you release it. Imagine the fish took you under water for the amount of time you took it out of the water, you may not survive. Never take it out of the water for more than one minute. Keep it's head under water until you want to take picture and then release it.
