I never liked the Conti web rollstand.

We had a brand new goss ssc in florida, and the cylinders started rusting out in less than 5 years, what a difference from the old American made goss urbanite, that 30 years in was still in decent shape

I was prepress for a goss urbanite for years. That machine gave our dept little issues. Other presses I did work for was a continual stream of new plates, shift this image, ect. The goss was a good producer.

That old guy reminds me of a Goss electrician they called "the unibomber." Can't be the same guy?

The tower I refused to work on, no room to do anything

We borrowed a deserter, then our maintenance guys measured it and then built our own, was getting 3 4 page tabs on a 33 inch web, 2 folders, ( double trouble)

That's an early model, no nip handles thru the front covers. We had folder #3 from the early production run, it didn't even have on the fly timing for the half fold delivery. And an easy fix for the 1/4 folder table guard, is to glue down a cutting rubber on the top, it stops the guard from closing to far.

News and Observer Raleigh NC, sadly now already out of use and probably scrapped. The N and O now printed in Fayetteville NC.
