How To Create Key Concept Art
มุมมอง 2.3K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I shed some light on the key concept art creation process. Concept art and key concepts or key images in general are for establishing an image in the mood, lighting, design, and key area typically. this captures that moment or "key" moment or location. there are many use cases for images like this. across the gaming industry and more useful for film. With that being said I hope yo...

      Big, Medium, Small - The foundation for variation in shapes. If things look to similar no matter what form or subject the eyes spot repetition very well. Hope that helps.

    It's a great concept design.. Love the composition. I was trying to improve my own workflow and found this very helpful. One thing I'd like to ask you is that do the studios prefer cinematic concept pieces like yours or the design layouts and drawings that you did earlier?

  • @tripplejaz
    @tripplejaz 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What in the Sam Hill add on were you using in Blender to do one click circular arrays?! The whole 3D workflow you have looks powerful. I can model decently but having access to a library of assets speeds up this process significantly. Do you have any recommendations for kitbash libraries?

    • @BillyRobertsDesignz
      @BillyRobertsDesignz 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha, I’m using hard ops, blender out of the box is slow, so use hard ops, & box cutter. Best add ons by far. For the kits just get whatever looks most valuable to you as a concept artist. Only catch is you will have to modify them in blender or 2D to keep it unique on final image.

    • @tripplejaz
      @tripplejaz 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BillyRobertsDesignz Thanks! Heard nothing but good things about HardOps. Yeah like you said, there's something special about the human element to art. 3D can be a crutch for many concept artists, but the ones who marry it with strong 2D skills are the ones we talk about.

    It's a relief and a surprised that the key to this whole confusing world concept art is simplicity and shapes. It inspires me as a person who is inspiring to be a concept character artist to take that to account while studying and how I go about it.

    What you said here in the video is right. But I have a bunch of insecurities that don't allow me to just sketch things. I don't wanna create something that doesn't look good. And this fear really hinders my growth as an artist. I understand the problem but I have no idea what to do about it. It's been a year since I started drawing and I know I would improve much faster if I actually did shit. Which is even more depressing.

    Severely underrated content. Your talks and paintings are fire. I relate to getting stuck in the daily cycle of a day job. Taking classes and pursuing personal projects in my free time has kept me sane. Being able to make time after work to do more work can be exhausting. Since then I've taken to a part time schedule and it really helped me balance work and life.
