Thanks for the review, well done. I picked one up a couple weeks ago and the Amazon price was $129 at the time but now the listing is gone and can't find anything available with that brand. That yellow sticker on the side actually says 50:1 with premium 2 cycle oil, or 25:1 for low quality (can't remember the exact wording). In a lot of countries you can only get very poor quality oil to run in them and these are sold in a lot of markets. I haven't used mine yet but I will likely do 40:1 in mine with some semi high quality 2 cycle oil. I know how to tune these things so I'll probably also tweak the carburetor fuel screws since I can't imagine it could be set optimally for both 25:1 and 50:1. But you're going to risk gunking up your exhaust a lot quicker and have more carbon buildup with 25:1 and just about anything you can get in the states is going to be considered high quality oil. Too much oil in the gas can also actually lean out the fuel/air ratio and a lean condition can cause overheating.

In case you were curious, Haunted Bookshop was named after the book "The Haunted Bookshop" by Christopher Morley, written in 1919. It's actually the second book in a 2 book series. The first book, Pernasus on Wheels, was written in 1917. Both are good books.

My 4# True Temper Dayton pattern has split more wood than any axe that I own. I have a 5# True Temper Dayton that is normally used for splitting but it has been used far less than its 50 year old brother.

If you put a 20 degree edge on a splitting axe it will fold back pretty easily if you are splitting seasoned wood. Put less of an angle on a splitting axe. I use my 5# maul to split seasoned wood.
