Artificial intelligence, particularly generative A.I., is everywhere these days. And because of that, there's an inherent geography underlying this technology. In today's episode, we cover the geographic biases of A.I., the extractive resources required to run A.I. and then we ask A.I. a bunch of questions about geography to see if it understands what geography is.

Of course, the safest place to be during a tornado is a mobile home factory. A tornado is not going to bite the hand that feeds it. Why is a redneck divorce like a tornado? Somebody somewhere is gonna lose a trailer. (I live in a double wide, so I can make those jokes! Of course, the first purchase after getting my home was a storm shelter!)
Excellent video! I've subscribed. I've never seen a live tornado, although I've heard them come close. The night back in 2011, the night of the killer tornadoes in the south, will never be forgotten. My late wife, parents, dog, and myself spent the night in our storm shelter. We could hear them going over. The NWS map of southeast TN and northeast AL and north GA was all colored in red due to tornado warnings. The tornadoes destroyed several power plants and high voltage lines and towers. I have been to several areas hit by tornadoes in the aftermath. Pictures and videos can not capture the devastation of a tornado. The scope and 3D-ness of the damage is heartbreaking in person. The problem is the "new" EF scale. I hate it! You'll only have powerful tornadoes if it hits an urban system. The El Reno tornado was certainly an F5 along points in it's path. However, it was mostly rural, so it was downgraded to an F4. The Moore F5 had lots of damage. But if you scientifically compare the two tornadoes, you can't help but consider the El Reno an F5. Huge EF5s go through Nebraska and Kansas, but since they're only in corn fields, they are hardly noticed by the NWS. The El Reno tornado, which was certainly an F5 along points in it's path. However, it was mostly rural, so it was downgraded to an F4. The Moore F5 had lots of damage. But if you scientifically compare the two tornadoes, you can't help but consider the El Reno an F5. There are many dramatic videos of these tornadoes on TH-cam. Where I live, there have also been several November and December tornadoes. They seem to be the worst. Of course, no one expects tornadoes in those months. Plus they seem to come from nowhere with minimal warning. They are very destructive, too.
this is a great video! And just so you guys know this is being played in a classroom full of grade 9 and 10 students, I'm one of the students at this school and I think your video is perfect for explaining time zones! Please keep up the good work :)
I gluten intolerant now but back in the 80's I visited New York twice and of course ate their pizza. I had to fold it like the rest were doing and it was the best for your basic sauce cheese pizza! I really like vegetable pizza more. I considerate quite different than your typical sauce/cheese pizza, so I don't put them in the same group. I am either in the mood for one or the other. I love the Pizza Hut thin crust. I like mine topped with black olives, red onions, bell peppers and spinach. I love those baked vegetables! Oh, and I forget the best of the best is home made people. I use to make my own dough and sometimes my own sauce. I used parmasean cheese and mozzarella then throw on the veggies.
In terms of music styles heavily associated with particular cities, there's Motown, which literally gets its name from its associations with Detroit.
Fun facts: the name Starkiller was eventually used for Vader's apprentice in the Force Unleashed videogames and the CGI division of ILM eventually became Pixar.
I've heard the story of growing a garden of potatoes in hopes of them being stolen attributed to Fredrick the Great of Prussia.
The addendum to the story about the bridges on the Euro is that the Dutch decided to build them for the lols.
Is the channel dead? No youtube or podcast?
I need to correct you on something. The Puget Sound/Salish Sea is NOT protected from a tsunami. It can still experience tsunamis. Further, there are large bluffs all over many of the Islands and they may likely slide displacing sound waters snd create tsunamis equally large or larger that can arrive at local destinations within two minutes of shaking. (It's a new type based on a situation near Sulawesi that crea😢ted local landslides). Best advice if you are near the water is RUN, even near Seattle.
The spring break quake was a sizable earthquake in the southern Portland metro area.
If the road away from the coast is clear, by all means use a car. Running won't do much good unless you start running before the mega tsunami reaches shore. 3. The only sure way to save yourself is to be above the water. A strong building, hopefully anchored with roof access is preferable.
It's been 3 weeks what's going on? Any update on the channel

24:01 another concern about lithium mining is its potential effect on the price of medications; lithium (extracted from lithium salt flats) is on the WHO’s list of essential medicines for its use in treating depression, bipolar and other mental health disorders.

I guess we can once again thank the British Empire for spreading this malady of a Mercator map.

tourism makes cost of living expensive. this affects the locals. the rich buddhaheads and hoales can afford this cost. all the money being made in hawaii goes towards mainland corporations. money in general being made almost never goes to its local economy.

Re: Kit Kat comments/question at the 0:24 marker: UK’s Roundtree candy company invented the original concept of the Kit Kat bar, originally named the Wafer Crisp, as the Rowntree’s Chocolate Crisp in 1935. Canada had its own version named the Coffee Crisp still popular today, and not available in the U.S. After manufacturing and distributing Kit Kat for decades, the British company entered into a deal with Hershey, giving it control over US Kit Kat distribution in 1970. Hershey started making Kit Kats in its own plant in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 1973. Nestlé acquired Rowntree Mackintosh in 1988, as Rowntree’s was called after a merger, and with it Kit Kat’s global distribution. Hershey maintains the US license, thus, the ‘different’ tasting Kit Kat in the United States.
Great video! Ties together two of my big interests. New subsciber here. :) This may be political to some, but- the increased prevalence of lower income housing, particularly mobile home parks, is a BIG contributor to tornado casualties and devastation in the South, as well as states like KY where I'm from. Impoverished areas are less likely to have infrastructure such as community storm shelters, or personal weather radios or shelters. Residents trying to flee unsafe housing like mobile homes can lead to traffic getting jammed to a standstill and leaving them without any shelter at all. Sometimes they end up trapped right in the tornado's path while their home remains untouched. In addition to the greater number of nighttime tornadoes, most of the tornadoes in the Southeast are higher precipitation storms. It can be very hard to identify a high precipitation tornado, even when it's almost on top of you, since visibility is severely reduced. Particlarly factoring the hills and the tree cover, it is often unclear if a tornado is even on the ground at all or is just an ominous cloud. All the best photogenic tornado videos tend to be from the more arid states because they're much easier to see, during the day, with a higher cloud base and a distinct condensation funnel. They frequently can be watched from a safe distance by experienced chasers. However, many storm chasers don't risk it going after storms in areas with lots of trees and hills because it can be very difficult (and thus dangerous) to keep track of a tornado and its behaviour.
As a meteorologist, this was a pretty accurate video. And I already saw the new Twisters movie. Definitely a cool movie for weather nerd types of people XD
20:41 technically speaking, there could be an EF5 in a field.. but if there’s no damage; then that’s what gives it, its EF-u
Yes, as a matter of fact that happened in SW Oklahoma earlier this year. According to wind speed it was in the EF-5 category, but (thankfully) it was confined to a small area of real estate that was in a field with no buildings. The tornado was erratic. it moved from west to east, then looped back to the northwest. It was quite interesting to watch on radar.
As I mentioned in my comment above, the El Reno tornado HAD to have been an EF5 along points in it's path. But since it was more rural, the damage didn't add up to an EF5. It was downgraded to an EF4. That's just crazy.
11:08 not true. Joplin was multiple vortex tornado. Jerrell Texas tornado was a multiple vortex as well. They are often referred to as the “deadman walk”, in the weather community. It’s said that if you see one, death is near
let's keep in mind that the word _unique_ is an 'absolute term' this means it can have no qualifiers like 'really' unique' or 'more' unique or 'not so' unique absolute terms are black or white as unique literally means 'one of a kind' so a thing either is one of a kind or it is not, but for sure a thing can not be 'really' one of a kind once one realizes this, it is amazing to hear that the word is nearly universally mis-applied perhaps folks thing it means 'special' which can have degrees, 'really special' makes sense one then sees that the word is a tell, indicating the speaker is not well-educated (it is different than the pronunciation of _antipodes_ which we know has at least two proper pronunciations with _unique,_ one is either using the word correctly or using it incorrectly)
and now, back to tornadoes please forgive the digression
@@friendoengusNo, no- please go on, I'm here for the lessons!
Where we live we have two tornado seasons. Spring and fall.

Another controversy with hosting the Olympics came with the Winter Games of 1976. Denver was scheduled to host but declined due to local political pressure - it was given to Innsbruck, which had it before in 1964.

From Spain. Nice videos. Catalunia is spain always has always will. The independence is the way the automomic government puts presure on the central government tho give them more competence. Historically its, absolut lie, as they never been independent. The only valid argument they have is that they feel catalan and not spanish. Most of population dosent want independence.

Belize is interesting to me geographically because I live in Cairns, Queensland, which is on the same latitude, but in the Southern Hemisphere, so similar climate. For tourists who compare Northern Queensland to South Florida, we are much closer to the equator than South Florida. Also interesting are the Amish people of Belize, yes, they have Amish.

I usually listen on Spotify, but just came here to comment - Your podcast is my fav to listen to on days when I just want to relax at home. It's 2 guys, having a yarn, about something reasonably intelligent (& it's not a debate that gets heated & controversial). Please don't even add in annoying sound effects, or sound bites, or people with loud laughter. Tnx!
