The Severum liberifer fry are 8 weeks old now and eating a ton. I alternate their diet between fresh hatched brine shrimp, bloodworm, Aquarium Co-op fry food, and crushed spirluna flakes. They eat everything. I tried to put the pair back together, but the female was kicking the males butt so I the them both in the 300-gallon pond. The fry Severum liberifer fry are 14 days old and doing great. I'm giving them fresh hatched brine shrimp twice a day. They're also munching on the Vibra-bites and shrimp pellets that I give the parents. I'm not sure how long I should keep them with the parents as breeding this species is new to me. I had thought the Severum liberifer ate the eggs when they were actually mouth brooding! I assumed they picked up the fry when they hatched, not hold the eggs until they hatched. Anyway, I've got liberifer fry!

Mouthbrooding Severums

I received a female Heros liberifer last year in a trade. she's been just hanging out with my Uaru since. My LFS got a nice male in, so I snapped him up in hopes of some babies. He had been tearing up his tank mates at the store, so they were glad to see him go. This short video is the pair about an hour after he was introduced.

I sifted all the larger rocks from the substrate and added black blastung sand to mix with the pool filter sand. Darkens it just enough. Unfortunately, the True Parrot ate the Haplo cat that's been in there with him for almost a year.
