great video! just used it to auto-mount my samba share. remember if you change your fstab file and are using systemd, you will have to do a 'systemctl daemon-reload' to have your system read the new fstab file and mount your new share upon reboot. this was the final step i need to make the changes persistent on linux mint.

You can easily make PiHole use HTTPS with the Cloudflared program, just change the configuration line to NextDNS and it works fine. It also works with PiVPN and DDNS to allow you to run your own VPN on phones and computer with wireguard installed. You can't use AGH with PiVPN as there is no way to route traffic from piVPN in through AGH to filter. AGH is way better on a Pi. I dumped PiHole as a fault meant it destroyed memory cards. If you use NextDNS you can add extra lists and controls too. Q9 refuse to block trackers and telemetry, so no good for privacy.

Hello. Do i need to have a laptop or computer to set up this nvr. I've moved into a rental which has all 8 cameras and the unit which I like to set up. From what im reading, it looks like i need a computer.. Is this correct ? Thank you

It all works fine until you want to write a file as your user, not root, and it tells you that you can't. Reading files works fine. If you sudo to root then it will allow you to write a file.

For those that still run into problems with gaming, ask your ISP for a public IP. Here in Finland I got a public IP for free from my ISP (Elisa) and now I can play call of duty titles with open NAT and host my own Arma 3 sessions. Took me a long time to figure out this thing :D

I have my USB modem plugged into the raspberry pi USB port. When I'm in terminal and type "sudo dmesg | grep ttyUSB", nothin pops up, It just goes to the next line. But when I input lsusb, I can see the usb modem exists. Any ideas?

Linux permissions have been my pain points being a windows user moving to homelab. I am using truenas smb share and with your method and many other fstab config, I keep getting permissions error. I changed the user password on truenas user to confirm if i am not entering wrong password, but still no luck. I get either error (22) or error (2) No such file or directory.

I shutting of nas with web option and waking up via linux router (tomato or asuswrt). No needed second truenas machine.

hello, when i'm running on truenas scale, when i tried the cron job it never work. But the WOL still work if I send the magic package from window. Is there any new update for the method that i can use in truenas scale

Just got CG-NATed and now port forwarding doesn't work anymore (thus my homepage isn't visible, nor is my cloud storage solution or the VPN server to my media-server, or for that matter my paid-for dynDNS service. CG-NAT is bovine feces...

help! Please .. I have 2 switchs that do not work by error in fan. However, I can not find in Brazil or on international purchase sites the fan model for replacement. The solution for IPv4 was IPv6. IPv6 works. CGNAT doesn't.

Providers that only provide CGNAT don't connect you to the internet, just a locked-down network, that by chance accepts outbound connections. Other types of essential connections are impossible. They are scammers.

Thanks for this. IPv6 setup on an EdgeRouter is definitely more hassle than it needs to be and this video explained it quite well. However, the prefix delegation was still failing for me so I contacted my ISP who reset something on their side and it sprang into life. It also turned out that my ISP doesn't support stateful DHCPv6 so that was failing to negotiate and giving a constant 50% cpu usage (100% on one core). I turned on "prefix-only" to fix this.
