Petty cool Dewayne thanks for posting. Is that a DC-10? as I rode that old bird a few times from ANC to NRT (Tokyo) when I was working on the Slope and commute to Japan. and remember it being a crummy old DC-10 with service, reminiscent of a Grayhoud bus. As I recall it went from Anchorage to Fairbanks and then on to Tokyo. I used to book flights from Deadhorse to Hong Kong and cash in the company Deadhorse Anchorage tickets for an international ticket from ANC to HKG with a stop in Tokyo and ditch the HKG part of the ticket for like $550 (It was like $900+ RT ANC-PDX). The Alaska flight from Deadhorse was always late and missed the Northwest connection to Seattle and Tokyo which was handy as NWA would book me on the midnight Lufthansa flight out of Fairbanks direct to Tokyo saving about 10 hours of travel, and the old MD-11 was always half empty so you could sleep in the middle row. One time when I missed the connection from Seattle to Tokyo and Alaska flew me all the way back to Fairbanks to catch the Lufthansa flight, and about 10 min before departure when I was coming down the jetway a Brut of a German flight attendant say me coming and quickly started to close the cabin door I yelled and withe a scowl, and a sneer she yanked on the door just as I grabbed the edge and we started wrestling, she finally relented and I barged in. On the flight she dished out some abuse and made sure I did not get any meal service. Btw, at the end you can see the two ARCO B727-100s on the ramp, one featured in you Nosewheel-less landing video I was on.

A flight that gets nowhere NEAR the amount of recognition it deserves

I have flown in this airplane many times when it was operated by Salair. Unfortunately, the plane and crew were lost on March 18, 1994 in Spokane, WA.

It looks like the pilot drove off the runway into a ditch.... his main landing gear was on fire.... could it be that he purposely steered into the dirt in order to put out the main gear fire?

Crew deciding whether to defect or not 🤣

I was an Army Aviator in Alaska 89-92, and remember seeing planes with stuck gear and engine failures coming in to Anchorage many times. The airport and emergency crews are pros at these things.
