Build A Pair of I Beams
มุมมอง 44K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In this episode I am making a pair of I beams . This is a great option if you need a collapsible setup , don't have a lot of space in your shop or moving from job site to job site . They are perfect when used in conjunction with a pair of sawhorses . Make A Silverware Tray
มุมมอง 2397 ปีที่แล้ว
In this episode I am showcasing the make of a custom silverware tray. For a long time the plastic trays that i had inside the kitchen cabinet drawer, limited the amount of silverware and kitchen utensils I could store . This way there is added storage and it blends with the cabinet drawer better . The best part is that you can pull the entire tray out and have all of the silverware handy for ou...

Felicitari!
Solid work bench that's also light and portable. Have brought it to the job site to cut wood on. No complaints!
Absolutely beautiful piece of furniture 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
Beautiful bench. Particularly impressed that you used recycled timber. Thank you for sharing.

Nicely done 👍👍👍
Do a voice over with this. It would be great.
That’s a great suggestion
In a Clint Eastwood 'Unforgiven' tone.
what leg vice hardware did you use? great build!
never mind i found it! again great build
Hovarter custom vise . 🙏🏻 thank you
Mr. Gontea, Very nice work. I really enjoyed your build. I was wondering if you could share the composer of the first composition?
Hello there! Thank you for your comment . I produced that instrumental .
Should have groved the top and bottom, by 1/8" then glue and screw that would have been stronger
Welcome back, great to see and hear you again
The height of the web is more important than the thickness of the web. The whole idea is to have some compressive strength in the top of the beam and tensile strength in the bottom of the beam, and to separate the two flanges accordingly. The further apart the top, compressively stressed flange is from the bottom, tensile stressed flange, the stronger the beam will be. That said, if you are limited in the height you can use because of the design, a thicker web will provide some benefit, but the height of the web does more than its thickness.
That is right. Thanks for that elaborative explanation. I recently made a similar concept but this time out of solid wood to act as a beam that sits on two columns above a sofa . The beam is also fastened to the wall. It holds an amazing amount of stuff the height of the web as you call it in this case is about 10 inches high .
If you wanted to make them longer, could you overlap multiple pieces?
They would have to have a very strong connection that would rezist sagging . I would try to get longer material and then make the center piece wider so that the beam would be taller
Woodbex is nice for that.
buen trabajo
I just subbed. I hope all is well and that you have time for more videos. Such a peaceful and informative video.
Thank you very much
I love the fact that you take the time for the majority of the process unlike some montage video of other video. Yours can help new woodworkers like mine to learn. Thanks!
Thank you very much!
We're looking for land to build a house. I'll build a Roubo when I have a permanent shop.
Wtf happened to the sound ☹
Your work shows the name you’ve chosen: Successful, joyful, and freedom lover (Gontea). Please continue the journey.
Really nice work!
Roughly how large is the gap in the bottom for the tail vise install? I'm planning my bench and i want to plan on how far from the end my legs need to be and im not seeing a great way to figure that out pre build. Thanks!
In my case I had to leave adequate distance to house the rod travel that makes up my wagon vise. If you will be installing a tail vise the mechanism will slide under so you have more freedom I believe on the distance . However I do advise you not to make your bench top shorter than six feet . If you can make it 8 foot long that would be a great size
@@artofgontea-artist5718 thanks! I've got the same vice. I'm not going to do a through tennon roubo, just tennons into the bottom. I had the legs a foot from the ends of the top in my plans, but then I looked at the vise rod and realized I was going to have to move the legs, just wasn't sure how far.
Thankyou Bro for sharing

You made a good use of your quarantine time. The bench is amazing, really a complex project and you put a lot of thought into it. Really, really amazing job!
The timber is first class and has a beautiful grain. That doorway must be stunning with it. Great Job!
Thanks , the owners are Happy Indeed

Gontea - that is a beautiful keepsake box. You personalized it very creatively. I enjoyed your work!
Thank you !!
I think I'm going to watch this video once a week until I get my workbench finished. Very inspirational and epic. Thanks for sharing.
It means a lot, thank you ! I was building and filming this bench last year around this time. Today I went to visit a friend that inherited an old bench from his father in law. It inspired me to go ahead and add to my bench so I will upload those improvements once I will have them made. May you have energy and fun while you build your bench.
Bravo. Très très beau travail. Félicitations.
Merci beacoup!
Ok... I'm in Love!!! 😍 the craftsmanship, the choice of wood, the design... the guys an artisan!

Great work! I have envy of your skills! What's the quick release leg vise accessories brand?
Thank you very much ! The leg Vise is made by “Hovarter “ in Michigan . Type Hovarter Custom Vise
Beautiful workpiece !!!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Greetings Ciprian, I hope you’re doing well! Beautiful work as always. Where do you get your rough lumber? Those were two beautiful chunks of walnut, I love the character of the worm holes.. I do quite a bit of work with ambrosia/spalted maple I love the character it brings out in the wood! Best of luck I enjoy your content,My best to your family, stay safe! ✌️
Thank you very much for appreciating my videos! These are part of what I bought last year from a lady who’s late husband was a restorer. Lots of it had wood worm holes but a good part is clear. Besides black walnut I got what seems to be English oak and some cherry as well as a rosewood board that is in great condition. With a little patience occasions like this do come by for pennies on the dollar. There is a local hardwood dealer that sells a good selection but so far I only bought mahogany and beech for them for the bookcase build I featured on the channel. I as well wish all the best to you and yours and till next time have a good time in the shop and stay safe !
@@artofgontea-artist5718 Thank you..
great watching this build I like some of the little touches you added to make it personal like the wood sign and the edge finish grat joints too. I'm very keen to know where you got this quick release vice from. Great job Tom
Thank you Tom! The buses are from Hovarter Custom Vise. They are a company out of Michigan you will find them on the internet. Len Hovarter the creator of theese vises is a talented machinist that invented this chamber quick release mechanism. They have other options as well. I spoke personally to him when I had specific questions and was very helpful to me and very nice. For a combo like mine Wagon and Leg vise the price was very competitive to benchcrafted plus the quick release is very nice ! I recommend them !
more artwork than woodwork. It would be an honor to create anything with that beautiful piece
Thank you for appreciating It. It does inspire me when I walk up to it and start on a project
Ok... that was awesome!
