Next up on Zatar Music comes Fairplay with the Sandi EP. The release is made up of the original of the title track, as well as a remix by Niconé - who happens to be one half of Berlin's electronic duo Lexy and K Paul.
The original Sandi draws inspiration and the vocals from maroccan singer and songwriter Asmaa Hamzaoui and the women's vocal and percussion group Bnat Timbouktou’s Sandia - a perfect example of the North African Gwana tradition.
Fairplay’s version adds a thick, driving kick and fitting percussion to create an outernational deep groover.
Niconé's remix adds an italo disco feel with loopy samples, an arpeggiated bass and synthy stabs and claps.
