Being a motorcyclist for 24 years I have ridden a lot of different bikes from 1800cc cruisers, 180 hp sports bikes to a 125cc Supercub. I have recently rebuilt a 1968 BSA Bantam D14/4 Supreme. I also own a 2016 Royal Enfield 500cc Bullet, which has a carburettor conversion and straight through exhaust system.

BSA Bantam First Ride After Service
มุมมอง 39514 วันที่ผ่านมา
1968 BSA Bantam D14/4 Supreme going on its first ride after completing the 2000 mile service. I have changed the gearbox oil from synthetic to 40W mineral oil. This has stopped the leaks from the oil plug, made the gears quieter and smoother. The bike’s running like a new bike. I’m very pleased with it!

BSA Bantam New Filter Setup
มุมมอง 25714 วันที่ผ่านมา
Taking the 1968 BSA Bantam D14/4 Supreme for its first run since fitting an original air hose from the side panel to carburettor. I found the pancake filter which was originally fitted to the carburettor fitted perfectly in the air box, over the air hose. I held this in place with cable ties from the original hooks in the air box. All the 4 stroking problems and lack of power at full throttle h...
Bullet to Bude

First ride of 2025 on my Royal Enfield Bullet 500. Starting in Gunnislake and riding to North Cornwall Motorcycles, in Bude. Although it looks warm and sunny in the video it really wasn’t. The roads were wet and the air temperature was zero degrees, a recipe for ice.

Saddlebags winter ride through mud, wet leaves and across fords. Definitely a great days adventure putting the Bantam to the test against much newer, bigger bikes.
Tuning For New Baffles
มุมมอง 362 หลายเดือนก่อน
After loosing the original baffles, I cut down a D7 baffle and installed it in my exhaust. This leaned the fuel mix, resulting in me changing the p/jet and m/jet sizes. Unfortunately the baffles fell out after 1000 miles and they were no where to be seen. I managed to get an original D14 baffle and end cone, which I restored and fitted. This made the fuel mix richer than before, resulting in me...
BSA Bantam No Longer Baffled!
มุมมอง 722 หลายเดือนก่อน
Half way through my journey to Torbay the tone of my exhaust changed dramatically, as well as the noise level. I quickly pulled over and noticed I no longer had the end cone and baffles in the exhaust. I walked up the road, but couldn’t find any of the pieces. This is a video of the journey back home. My ears were ringing by the time I made it home.

BSA Bantam Across the Moors to The Jolly Rodger
Oh the joys of no premix no reserve on the petrol tank, no key ignition or lock I remember OCV889G well riding down Union St to the Octagon under the railway bridge to Royal Parade.
Feels so much simpler and more fun than a modern bike!
I started on a little Yam 80 bought Bantam from brother who also owned OCV 993G both bikes came from dealer in Launceston. My bike got nicked when i left it at Exeter Airport it was pad locked. I then bought a Kawasaki A7 Avenger. It would pull 70 up past the station from Pennycomequick.
Bantams had such a noticeable exhaust sound. I bet you don't remember the red ones that the GPO used for delivering telegrams.
I have seen photos of them, but it’s before my time.
Nice to see a rider not continually blipping the throttle. My Jawa 350 had a neutral between 3rd and 4th for going down steep hills like we see here.
Might pull the clutch and give it a blip every now and then, on really long hills. Apart from that it’s very unlikely to over heat with normal road riding, as long as the Petroil mix and carb settings are correct that is.
I used to borrow my cousins 125cc D1 at weekends, Then i bought D7 think it was a 175 cc or 195cc , i went everywhere on that bike in all weathers , they where bullet proof 🤔 There was a Signalman who travelled everyday on his Bantam he had the newwer one the last to be built approx 1969 in blue and chrome , he travelled from Dee side to Birkenhead in all weathers , Can only say they were a little Work horse of a machine 😉 Happy days ❤ stay safe 🙏
Thank you for sharing a great story. Mine is a 1968 D14/4, which has a 175cc engine. They are definitely great bikes. I have done 2200 miles, since rebuild and it hasn’t missed a beat, even in heavy rain. Don’t forget to subscribe, if you want to see more Bantam adventures.
excellent video if'n you like 45 minutes of microphone wind noise
Thank you for the review. I’m looking into external microphone options, that I can mount near the exhaust, with the added “Dead Cat” to help reduce wind noise.
Running a treat 👍
You have that running spot on!
Thanks. It took a long time to get the fuelling spot on.
brings back memory of when i had a my first bike which was a Bantam.
Nice👍
Thanks ✌
Running like a dream. Top job on the thumbnail 👌🏼
Cheers buddy. Got a week of nice weather now, if you are up for a ride?
Ah I’d love to, but work 👎🏼
@@Saddlebags73no worries. Maybe one weekend 👍🏻
For sure! I plan on a short notice social early February. We’ll have to exchange details if you can make it.
@Saddlebags73 definitely. Looking forward to the social ride.
Nice little video to watch, with a cuppa.
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope to see you on the next ride 👍🏻
I got cold (again) watching that. Is it going any differently? Sounded almost lively 😉
It was quite warm in the sun. Had to be careful of ice though! It used to 4 stroke with the throttle slightly open and loose power at full throttle. That has all been sorted by moving the filter from the carb to the air box and installing a rubber air pipe from the air box to the carb. I think it was getting too much air before. I have a K&N filter on order to replace the paper filter.
Nice job! I did think it sounded like it was running better but then thought maybe mind over matter. Keep safe 👍🏼
Fantastic ride. Subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
bike sounds sweet , nice drive lovley sceenery,^5s
Yes!
Wow, she is quite zippy, would never say...
i cant look at that rust sorry
Looks more like Capn Jaspers to me!🤔
The riders are from Jolly Roger. We went from B&Q, Newton Abbot to Capn Jaspers.
I do enjoy watching the Bantam whizzing along familiar roads 🙂
Looking forward to the next social ride 👍🏻
German 2 stroke|
Based on the DKW. This one’s the D14/4 175cc, slightly bigger than the DKW.
Your not afraid to give it the beans , nice one.
They like to rev high 👊🏻💀
Excellent day. Nice meeting you mate...& smelling that wonderful bike of yours! 😎
You too. Hopefully it won’t be long to wait, before the next ride.
“Smokey” did I hear someone call her? Looks such a fun bike. You must be enjoying yourself on it. I have thought about a short notice social through the lanes around Stoke Climsland
That’s my new nickname 😂. It’s a great bike to ride and easy to fix everything with a small selection of tools. I’d be definitely up for more rides. Keep me posted 👍🏻
Great day wasn't it? Nice to have met you. 😊 👍
Nice adventure through the Cornish lanes! Nice to have met you too. Love your bike by the way! 😊
Great meeting you Mike! Really impressed how well the Bantam goes, subbed, Dave (Honda Innova 125)
Great meeting you too. If you are still looking at buying a Bantam, let me know whether you need a hand with anything mechanical/electrical and I’ll happily help you.
Great to meet you, loved the smell of the Bantam. Now subbed
Great to meet you too. I think everyone was getting high off the Bantam 😂
@dasp125 high, brought back memories. Any castrol R in the mix?
Good to see you again and your cool bike...you got this out quick!!! puts us others to shame...brill day!
You to. Can’t wait to see yours and Jeff’s videos of the day. My video is just a basic iPhone jobby, not professional quality like you lot!
Love this! Had no idea you were filming, sneaky. Great to see you and lovely to see the Bantam whipping along 👍🏼
I forgot to put my phone on the bars for most of it. Great to see you guys as well. Very pleased with how the little Bantam did today.
