Wait! You wanna see my tongue?!?!
มุมมอง 583ปีที่แล้ว
Probably the strangest looks I get in the office are when I politely ask “May I see your tongue?” And the results are anywhere from, a cheeky stick out of said tongue 😜, to an eyebrows raised 😳 tentative glimpse of just the tip of the tongue between tightly closed lips 😋 Clearly we’ve all been taught that this is not appropriate for polite company 🤭 Luckily for me, my clinic and medicine in gen...

Thank you so much for this video. Do you have any recommendations on how to go about finding an acupuncturist that has a good understanding of autoimmune disease? In my case specifically it's AIH, but I think someone who understands autoimmune conditions like you do is vital. We'll also have to work with/around the traditional western treatment since it's my liver and I'm on immunosuppressants and corticosteroids, so it will be a balancing act. I'm not really sure how to search to find the right provider(s).

Finding the right acupuncturist is always a journey and unfortunately there isn't a professional organization that we can join that identifies those of us with a special interest in autoimmune conditions 🤔(do not give me another project 😂😉). My suggestion is that you start by finding one that has a higher level of education (in the US this means a DAOM or DACM) this level of education usually comes with enough western medicine that your practitioner is more likely to be able to interface with the western standard of care and secondarily, I recommend looking for someone that has an interest in functional medicine. Not that you need functional medicine to treat AI disease, but TCM doctors who've done a bit of dabbling in functional medicine are more likely to have had some experience treating autoimmune disease.

@@elementalwellness First, thank you for the detailed reply! I’m a huge believer in functional medicine. I did find an acupuncurist, strangely enough it’s one whose office I have walked past with my dog during our morning walk for the past 7 years and I never knew the office was there. No sign on the street, the building itself is just a plain strip mall, and his office is on the lower level. 2 treatments so far and I’m not expecting miracles but it is starting to make at least a minor difference in my med-induced digestive issues.

@scotrobnett that's wonderful news. Sometimes the best acupuncturists are the hardest to find. Remember that acupuncture is cumulative and I'm sure that the benefits will add up in time. Good luck to you on your healing journey!
