Never Look Back
October marks the start of domestic violence awareness month.
In my group of friends alone I know more women that have suffered domestic abuse, violence, rape, sexual or physical abuse and/or coercion (in or outside of the home) than those who have not, and that’s including myself.
This may be a shocking statement to you, but look around to the women in your life. Ask questions. Hear them talk about their experiences, hear the ones stifling the difficult memories.
More importantly, see those who are silent and still suffering.
1 in 3 women, 1 in 5 children and 1 in 6 men will experience abuse in their lifetime.
This song was written after thinking about all the negative experiences the girls in my family have had, and also the girls I have the honour of calling my friends.
It’s also in response to always hearing people say, ‘why don’t they just leave?!’.
Which has a much more complicated answer to such a simple, black and white question.
Mind clear, eyes open wide, never look back.

Another little video montage of Glastonbury 2024! I took my 84 year old father in law with me. This will be the third major festival I’ve brought him to since my lovely husband died. We have an absolute blast! I’m incredibly lucky to have him ❤️

This years Glastonbury festival saw me playing two lovely music gigs on lovely stages AND also, on top of this, I was booked by T&C as a Performance Interpreter for three shows: Jonathan pie, Leather Lungs and Bitopia. What a bloody packed-full weekend that was!

This was a song I wrote a few years ago about true love and being thankful for the small things; when we slow down and actually look and notice little moments that make us smile and feel loved and whole. These things are easily forgotten in our busy lives and this was written to continually remind myself of them 😊

This song was written with my baby sister and the people that are closest to me in mind. It’s about love and being present and having your eyes open to noticing when someone needs a lift, a smile. I have always done this for the people close to me. Turned up for a hug, a smile through a window, a phonecall saying how much they mean to me. Taken them for a walk, in the car, on the bus, on the tr...

Something Overgrown (live)

Something overgrown was written about my time travelling through festivals, playing, performing as the seasons Change. Depending what month I'm in, the lyrics change ever so slightly. It then, by a happy accident was collided with a song I’d written for my older sisters wedding and its stayed that way ever since

Manson D’Etre, Duet with Nick Parker (live)

Nick asked me to duet two of his songs after doing my support spot. This and Guess I’ll Never Know. One of my favourite things as a musician is to harmonise and duet with people so i was definitely up for it 🥰 Sorry for fluffing the words up Nick (and fans!)! I was rather on the spot… Nick is the perfect performer, it was an absolute pleasure to sing and harmonise with him 😊

Absolutely amazing Emma always had such a lovely voice. It’s Carl and holly by the way 👍🏻❤️xx
Aww thanks Carl! Hope you’re both keeping safe and well in these very strange times ♥️ Xx
I love that line "Seem powerless now, in our isolation". So appropriate in these dark times. I used to sing this song when I went busking. I've given that up now, because I'm 68 and have bad asthma, so I'd probably die if I caught the virus
Thanks Chris, nice to know you used to sing this too! Hope you keep safe and well 🙂
