I get nightmares every time I stare at one of UrbanSpook’s art lmao, and the monsters in my dreams kinda look exactly like the victims in those paintings the painter created, including the painter/killer themselves. Also, the way the killers murder their victims in a way I never thought would imagine is something that Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, and John Wayne Gacy would do if they formed as a group. I’ll just go back to reading the entire lore of FNATI… (Five Nights at Treasure Island) 😂

I love that basically EVERYONE is all locked in on the Isabelle call portion being the best part. It's how I got introduced. I saw it before any of the rest of the series, thus I had 0 idea why anyone was talking shit on it or criticizing the hell out of it when it has something THAT amazing... Then I watched the series and realized that that was not only the peak of the series but it somehow comes out of nowhere. It feels intense and gruesome but shockingly subdued and minimalist. The killer(s) don't even say anything after murdering her, no laughs, nothing. It's also a shame we kinda get spoiled what happened so the impact is super dampened. Seeing JUST the call immediately gave me the idea that we'd get something that could absolutely surpass something like Mandela or Greylock. Tone the extreme edge down by like... 25% and lean into that minimalist vibe with occasional bits of the police getting closer, more voice acting and uh, again, less of the "LOOK AT HOW EVIL THESE GUYS ARE! MWAHAHAHAHA". I don't mind the over the top gory kills or whatnot but the "Hahaha look, the SA kids! They make the horse SA people, bwaaaahaha" is less scary than it is disturbing. As in, I'd never say someone who draws loli porn is scary, but I'd ABSOLUTELY say it's immediately fucking sickening.

This series is the equivalent of being told an episode of Happy Tree Friends with PNGs of the characters deaths in a PowerPoint presentation. Just because that show has characters dying and suffering in horrible ways that doesn't make it horror. There isn't anything to make the characters death impactful, because it's just gør€₱ørn to please the creator. Who's scared? Children?

Several months later, and I have returned. I have changed my opinions a bit, but, I still stand by the statement that this analog horror, although it does very much so, try way to hard, its still disturbing. The paintings with this strange music in the background, it does make it at the VERY LEAST, a bit eerie. I will say, that the one episode with the, uh, the horses, yeah, that one I unilaterally agree, cast that into hell, get it out of here, absolutely not, I hate it, nu uh. Not doing that. I will also admit, looking back, I am very disappointed that the series wasn't given a serious buildup, I do not like that it's just, "Oh, woman here. Woman killed with drill. Killer proud." But, I do stand by the statement that if urban spook was not absolutely railed with just pure "You suck at this" criticism, this series could have worked. I've gotten into EAS scenarios lately, this sort of idea, with good buildup, alongside with the analog style horror and the additon of an EAS piece, it could have been so good. In my overall opinion, this idea of something thats realistic, not some alien frickin' microorganism that makes you smile in a extremely exaggerated manner and makes you insane, or some doppleganger thats gonna wear your skin as a suit. Its sort of like, almost like the House of 1000 corpses, only difference is that, this is on a small scale and uh, it was kinda screwed over sideways. In the the house of 1000 corpses and its sequels, Its pointless murder and you are actually made to hate the antagonists, you don't really feel bad for them. And its the hatred that sort of drives you forward to find out more. Thats why I think if you added a EAS aspect, this could work incredibly well. But, since everyone kept just railing him with quite vile criticism, and criticism is valid until it becomes almost like just hate. Its got the pieces and the blueprint, but it never was built.

Like you mentioned the existence of the tapes makes no sense at all, which is a critical aspect of analog horror. The number listed sounds like a call for tips from the public, but the information within would never be shown to the public and there would be markings that it was a police tape. Maybe an independent investigator but how would they have access to all this evidence and information and why make tapes? The description of ep 1 the poster says they found the tapes in their apartment basement so how did these evidence tapes end up there? Why is literally nothing dated to establish a timeline?

I feel like there are two lines you dont cross with VHS ‘horror’. 1: Killing kids 2: Using SA or r@pe Using these as shock factor are extremely looked down upon by others
