In the cockpit: Air Attack races to fight wildfire before sunset | Airborne Firefighters BTS 014
มุมมอง 41K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
To give you an inside look at what it takes to fight wildfires from the air for our upcoming docuseries about aerial firefighters, we've been waiting for weeks, hoping for the perfect moment when all the aircraft at one air attack base are called to the same fire within driving distance. Recently, that moment arrived. But, with just an hour before sunset, it was a race against time for the aeri...
Filming aerial firefighters on the Post Fire
มุมมอง 35K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
In behind-the-scenes episode 13, we go to film the first big fire of the 2024 season in California. Our goal is to film the aerial firefighters we’re following from the ground, but it’s not as easy as you might think. In fact, it’s one of the biggest challenges for this project. If you’re new here, this - what you’re watching now on TH-cam - is not our end goal. It’s the journey to make the rea...

Classy Flying and Classy Video...
Huh
Thanks for watching
Night time is usually the time where we can be most effective - on the ground and in the air - due to typically more moderate fire behavior at night. The big BUT with that is the safety aspect: seeing snags, drop offs, aerial hazards, etc. is that much harder. If fire is a "war,", though, maybe we should equip IHCs with NODs too? Just like actual war, aerial attack with no boots to hold the ground is next to useless.
Firefighting Industrial Complex, the fires start the same time every year $$$$$$
Thanks for watching!
Great community. Well maintained airfield. Host to Cal Fire and USFS aviation assets.

Thank you for doing this, my dad was a water bomber pilot and crop duster all his life, they do not get the recognition or credit they deserve, again thank you and I hope you do alot more
Thanks for the encouraging words! Mad props to your dad!!
Where did your dad crop dust at?
Love this project, always excited to see the latest clips. Any estimate on when the full docu-series is targeted for release?
Thanks for the encouraging words! And thanks for watching. Wish I could tell you the release date for the main attraction!!
I live right down Sanderson, could practically run to the airport. So excited to see some content from around here. My MEPS date for Task Force Rattlesnake is Sept 29th, hopefully I’ll be down there fighting them by next year! Great content!
Congrats man! Great aerial firefighting team you got down there!!
Great video! Nice tanker drops!
Thank you!! Hey did you get footage of the Borel fire?
Yeah I got some footage from the bottom of Havaliah on the 5th day into the fire, it’s on my channel
nice! We must have been in the same area. I’ll go check your channel.
I loved this!! Can't wait to watch the series - it's so action-packed already 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching Nikissi!!
HAHA I just moved someone out of Golden Village and live down the street from there. I watch all day as Cal Fire attacks these fires from Hemet Ryan. I’m in the process of joining the California State Guard as part of Joint Task Force Rattlesnake to go fight them! MEPS date is 09/28, couldn’t be more excited.
Small world! And congrats 🎉
Good man right there.
True story
Most media coverage this towns gotten in a minute
Nice!! Figured you guys would come down for it. I was there a few days ago they’re making great progress
I’ve been listening to air operations on my ham radio this week out here in Colorado! It’s endlessly interesting being able to listen while watching them fight from the air…I just wish wildfire smoke didn’t give me migraines 😂
We’ve actually been wondering if people would be interested in hearing some of the raw audio from the cockpit from aircraft working on fire. Would that be interesting to you?
@@AirborneFirefighters omg absolutely!! It helps give a bit of context, and it’s just fun to listen to, for me at least!
@@AirborneFirefighters I second this, would love to hear it
@AirborneFirefighters my suggestion, if you can make it work: stack in tracks from all the radios at once. Let people hear the Victor, Air Tactics, Air to Ground, Command - everything that ATGS hears and has to sift through all at once, prioritize, and respond to. Not even many ground pounders realize exactly how much Air Attack has going on all at once. When i went to AC Dispatch training years ago, we had an ATGS come in and line out exactly how much they have going on at any given time from launch to overhead to transition to another AA at the end of fuel cycle - their workload is more like a dispatcher in a ridiculously understaffed center, than a ground based DIVS.
That looks like a CH47 to me.
You got it!
This was awesome - thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I live here in Porterville ❤
You have an amazing air attack base in your backyard!
Also, When you were at Lake succes, you were in Springvillle, not Porterville (Where I live)
Good to know! Thanks for the correction:)
@@AirborneFirefighters Your welcome :D
THATS WERE I LIVE! (I live up the mountain a bit more)
You have an amazing air attack base in your backyard!
@@AirborneFirefighters Yup :D We thanked them for saving our small town from a big forest fire
Always count on Porterville small town base but crazy busy
Especially this year!
What's the deal with telling us about the cool interviews and other shots, but only showing us a few seconds here and there? "Where's the Beef?" as the old Wendy's add appealed....
This is the behind the scenes making of the real documentary which is going to take a lot longer to put together.
