International Cryosphere Climate Initiative
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 30 พ.ย. 2019
International Cryosphere Climate Initiative (ICCI) is a network of senior policy experts and researchers aiming to spread cryosphere science and preserve the cryosphere's key role in Earth's climate system. The cryosphere is a term for the regions of our globe which are covered in ice and snow - either seasonally or year-round. Climate change is happening in the cryosphere faster and more dramatically than anywhere else on earth.

The Arctic Ocean Could Experience its First Ice-free Day Before 2030
Dr. Alexandra Jahn is an Associate Professor in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and Institute for Arctic and Alpine Research at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Her research topics include climate and paleoclimate modeling, polar climate, climate model evaluation, Arctic Ocean and sea ice variability, Arctic freshwater dynamics, cryosphere, and oceanography.
Some of the largest climate changes today are occurring in the Arctic Ocean. Given that observational data in the Arctic is very limited, model studies are a great tool to better understand Arctic climate processes and their global impacts. One of her main research aims is to understand the role of natural variability versus forced trends in the Arctic ocean and sea ice system during the 20th and 21st century. In this work, she investigates the Arctic sea ice and oceanic freshwater dynamics.

How the Term "Tipping Points" Can Distract from Climate Action
มุมมอง 26014 วันที่ผ่านมา
Dr. Robert Kopp from Rutgers University discusses his recent Nature Climate Change paper, which takes issue with the utility of the term "tipping points." The paper asserts that this term can confuse policy makers and the public, and even distract from or discourage urgent climate action. Dr. Kopp's research focuses on understanding uncertainty in past and future climate change, with major emph...
Iceland and Monaco: Ambition on Melting Ice Ministers
มุมมอง 602 หลายเดือนก่อน
Ministers call on greater progress at COP29 in Baku to keep warming to 1.5°C to avert disastrous global loss and damage from ice melt. As the climate negotiations enter their end phase, members of the Ambition on Melting Ice High-level Group (AMI) on Sea-level Rise and Mountain Water Resources called on all countries to make greater progress at COP29, given sharpening risks of irreversible impa...
