Hey Linda I haven’t had the surgery but both my parents and aunts have and it’s been fine. In and out the same day. They’ve been doing it so long now that it’s a walk in the park. Don’t worry you’ll be fine. Thanks for showing us all your goodies. The reverse coloring book from 5 below looks great!

Enjoyed your video so much! I know so many people who have had the surgery with wonderful results and say it is nothing. BUT, I'm going to need it soon and I, like you, am scared to death; very, very nervous about it! Will keep you in my prayers.

Just had cataract surgery on my right eye on Dec 19th. They give you mild anesthesia, you are not really knocked out . I remember them using alot of drops, I felt a tiny bit of pressure , but couldn’t see a thing as far as the incision or blade. Didn’t take very long, then I was wheeled out to a room where I was given water and some cookies lol.went hope with a clear plastic patch taped to my eye. Slept with it on. A little annoying. Next morning was the follow up , they took the patch off and checked my eye , did some tests. Went home. Sunglasses when I went outside as the sun was too bright. Sometimes I wore sunglasses to watch the tv. Wasn’t allowed to bend over or lift heavy things for 2 weeks , couldn’t get water in eyes for a week, so no shampooing for 7 days, no eye make up for 7 days. The post op eye drop is schedule is annoying. 3 different eyedrops Several times a day, getting fewer as each week passed until a month later then it’s done. As far as side effects/irritations… I had a muscle twitch for a month that bothered me, saw flickering on the side of my eye when bright light was hitting it and I had this flare type thing in my lower iris that caused me to see a weird glare that lasted about a month as well. A few times I had the feeling that something was in my eye, but it was nothing ..just seemed like it. Oh, and you can’t rub the eye at all for like 2 weeks. At my next follow up 25 days after the surgery i mentioned all these things and was told it would all go away soon at some point and it did. Here’s the only problem, the distance in that eye actually got better but my close up vision in that eye got worse ( I didn’t pay the extra for the close up to improve, I was self pay and it was already a lot of money ) , so I got a script for corrective readers which I still haven’t bought yet, but eventually. Also the eye that didn’t have the surgery is still as blurry as the cataract eye used to be , so one eye sees good with distance and the other doesn’t, and one eye has bad close up vision and the other has good close up. Kinda kooky for the first 2 weeks to me, but Im used to it now. The adjustment to everything takes about a month. If you’re getting the 2nd eye done too at a later date , then you would just have to deal with the healing all over again but with a little more piece of mind because you already know what’s going to happen again. It sounds worse than it actually was. I’d call it “annoying” overall.

I'm only 38 but I did drive my dad to both cataract eye surgery appts (they do one eye at a time). He did really good. The only annoying thing is the eye drop schedule after care. But you get to nap a lot after. You just have a patch over one eye for the day I think. His vision is great now and didn't need glasses at 78! Good luck! Hope you have a great doctor!

You got some really neat stuff! Thank you for letting us know what's out there.....I haven't been in awhile. in 2023 when I was 75, I had to have cataract surgery also. And I was terrified. I've had many surgeries since I was 2 y/o and none a success. These are my eyes we're talking about!! But it's over and I have 20/20 vision, no glasses except for a $store pair of cheaters for reading some things. No more regular wearing of glasses! And boy was I shocked at what I saw. Colors were different than what I thought, I could see road signs again, etc. happy happy!!! You'll be just fine!😀
