You should have never given that couple Clyde. They should have taken another dog or leave empty handed. I've rescued animals for over 30 yrs and always adopted out animals together if it was needed. Never had any returns people could return them if it didn't work out and always people adjusted. If you take care of one pet another one doesn't matter. it helps if pets have friends so have company when people are gone all day and they are alone.
