Engine Failure After Take Off (EFATO) - Part 2 #efato
How to handle an engine malfunction on Take Off.
Real video footage from the simulator with step by step guidance on the procedure, what to look for, and how to handle the aircraft with some useful tips.
Engine Failure between V1and V2 is required to be performed for your recurrent sim check. Watch how this is flown by pilots.
This continues from Part 1 and commences from 400' AGL, filmed on the Boeing 737 simulator and should be considered as reference only, always consult your own company and aircraft manuals for procedures and calls.
Perfect watching for pilots reviewing procedure before your LPC/OPC, interview preparation or for Flight sim enthusiasts and trainee pilots conducting a Type Rating course on the Boeing 737.
Please leave your comments and thanks for watching.

Exceptionally well tailored for training and your viewing strategy is unique and reinforces learning. Might you have a video on Engine severe damage during a go around Ana a video on in flight decision making following a failure? Much obliged Captain David.

If relatively stable, the GS tells you where you are. VSI tells you where you're going to be. To my, the VSI is more important than the GS. Configure, power and pitch. Pitch Plus Power Equals Performance. Always, unless you're in a fighter or glider.

The Fact is that the Engine failure on final tale is discussed in the FCTM, and the FCTM isn’t a Legally certified book ( FAA only acknowledge it’s existence…) So whether in F30 or F15… if performance distance is ok ( think to AB MAX ) and stable and every thing is ok, continue, otherwise GA and complete your drills…

Good job. Very good example of what mostly happens in sim as in real flight. Also a good reminder that manual flight skills have to be maintained during real flight and use of a simple PC simulator is useful for this pur pose.

I feel there is only one correct decision unless stated otherwise. Cavok , long rwy, no traffic between you and the rwy land for bloody sake! General knowledge assumes you just add twenty knots, some thrust, flaps to 15 , A/B 3 and ground proximity inhibit. Just like you brief an engine failure before takeoff as captain during the crew briefing to landing just run through the scenario with yourself.

Really would not want to go around. Remember you have all the physics of flight on your side. Even with no engine, if you consider yourself a glider, you can still land. It's just a different dynamic.

Thank you for your feedback. There are not many pilots that have experienced the complete set of Boeing aircraft. That certainly gives a very broad depth of understanding in the design philosophy and evolution over the years. 🙂

You are correct!!Having flown also the 747-200 I can tell you that especially very close to a clean maneuvering, you’d be very careful to keep it higher.. in any case you have the concept so clear in your mind that when you explain you can feel the deep understanding. I have just renew my 737 but too hold to fly 😂
