My dream project showed up and we spent 3.5 days in the forest to get her out like a bus.

Testing with M/T ET drag and new engine. 1.5 60fot 11.20 @ 200 all with 1.5bar boost and a very untuned engine.

Would love to see this after it was unloaded from the trailer. Wonder what it looks like today 2022? I am amazed that someone could just "find" this in the woods. Bet there aren't many like that in the USA. Thanks.

Sorry it comes to a point when you have to let em go. This bus is the vw equivalent to the Mary Rose. It ain't gonna be a restoration ptoject but a replacement project.

Fantastic! Reminds me of the split I found in Sweden and shipped to the US. I called it “Project field mouse” or “Mother Nature’s Split”. Sat out in the weather since 1964 and we actually got it running and driving in an afternoon! It’s still being driven and preserved just as it was found.

@@MrJCTONE Thanks. I should of said 23 window. They sure do want ridiculous money for those in the U.S.
I knew it was a typo. Yes they are getting very expensive. The reason some Samba,s can be found in the Swedish forrest, is that Sweden went from LH driving to RH driving back in 1967. This meant that many of them became worthless overnight, becourse they now had the side doors on the wrong side.

Felix24148 I dont know actually. The old man said they where pushing it out of the barn 15years ago. But I don’t know. I think some more years.
I see. So it's been out in the weather for at least a decade and a half or so. I'd say it survived pretty well all things considered. did you restore the car?
Good work. It would be nonsense to hint of this as a project vehicle but if even a little of its DNA can live on supporting others then it's a job well done. Happy you care enough to go to all the effort when others would either laugh,scorn or turn away. You get two thumbs up!
I congratulate these people for rescuing these cars that once served a family and were forgotten.

just wondering how do these cars get in these situations, did they put the there on purpose or do they get stuck and the owners abandon them?
cartmanrlsusall This one was sittning in the barn until 15 years ago when he realised he wanted that space for other things. So just pushed it out in the wood.
It just happens sometimes through unfortunate circumstances....I recently picked up a 1960 bug in dire condition (but I'm beginning the resto on my project) and I'm very close to also buying a 1964 Bug which has been left in the wilderness (also near a beach facing the sea) which is rotting from the front....but the owner is keen for me to buy as he recently had major heart surgery, is old and cannot look after some of his car collection properly anymore ...he told me the 1964 Bug has been left there like that since about 2007 - 08! (I feel an urgent need to rescue it away from the beach even if I can't afford to restore!)
