Make sure your car didn’t come with factory HID. If it has a silver box w a lightning bolt on it then you have HIDs not halogens.

I’ve never heard of pulling fuse 38. That would be easier though. Let us know if that works.

@moparlifescatpack I lied, it's fuse 36. You have to pull it while it's open. It does work. There's a catch to it tho, after a couple of days, it will throw a code. Doesn't affect function at all tho. If you wanna make it quieter or make code go away then pull battery put fuse back in. Will be like it never happened. By doing it this way you can at least see if you like extra noise before you commit permanently. I like the active exhaust. sometimes I want it loud, sometimes quiet. My 19 has mid muffler delete so at higher speeds in top gear I want it quiet. Car has very annoying drone in 4cyl mode with valves open.

Gotcha. I can’t have any codes or it drives my OCD crazy. Lol. For me I always enjoy the loudness and I never use cylinder deactivation. I drive it sport mode 100% of the time. Mine is a weekend car so, fortunately, I don’t have to also want it quieter for daily use. Everyone’s tolerance level for drone is different so definitely many options to choose from in that regard.

I gotcha, mine is a daily. Mid muffler delete with x pipe in its place is enough for me all the time. Sounds great tho. Good hack!

That is interesting. I’ve never heard of that but I definitely no expert. Call the company that fixed mine and see what they think. They are the gurus of modules they may be able to answer that for you. Wish I was more help.

If you have the stock system I 100% guarantee the factory tips are not welded on. Ive had so many think that but some good whacks with a mallet and they fall right off. Don’t give up.

Theoretically yeah but Im not really a very technical guy when it comes to stereo installs. Only reason I conquered this one was because it was just so straightforward and hard to mess up.

Glad it was helpful! That Alpine system definitely needed just a little help and this did the trick. Now there is some thump when I want it.

@@moparlifescatpackanother thing I noticed that is kinda odd, is that the rear deck lid covers the back speakers with a pretty sold piece of material. Therefore it muffles those speakers in a majorly bad way. I am considering cutting out speaker holes there. Clarity & volume is always good. I’m just not sure how to go about it without it looking bad. The upholstery would probably get all messed up.

@@moparlifescatpackWill do. I just requested your FB group btw. Now I’m wondering if I can’t just use your method for an amp install. Just tap into the rear speaker to the remote inputs on amp the amp. I really don’t wanna mess with the head unit & only have RCA input/outputs for the head to amp connections anyway. Which I’m sure won’t work without an adapter. At least.

Only works on cars with active exhaust. Im not sure if the SXTs have that feature.

Yeah I’ve had tons of people suggesting the plastic ones will melt so probably a better choice. With that said though I still have my original ones from this video on there and they are just as good as the day I put them on.

Its funny you said that because usually I film anything I do to the car. But I took the door panels off to see what I was up against and then just kinda got carried away, working on it and popping all the rivets and then completely forgot to film anything, but I could tell you this the door panels are a pain in the ass. You have to separate the inner skin of the door panel from the outer skin by popping about 80 plastic rivets for each door. Then once you have it separated, you can take off the parts to be recovered and recover them and put everything back, but the only problem is you have to use little screws everywhere that you popped a plastic rivet because, you obviously can’t put the plastic rivets back. It turned out amazing, but it was a lot of work and pretty stressful until I figured out the best way to pop the rivets which was basically just use drill but be very gentle. I would love to be in another gen 2. This one was my second one but after enjoying it for a couple years I moved on to something a little more practical. I do miss the full analog experience though. Such a fun car!

Cool. Good luck! Its pretty easy. The wires I originally used kept breaking but if all else fail’s my original zip ties are still going strong no issue.
