A Forgotten Gem: A Line in the Sand 1991 Board Game Review!
มุมมอง 41114 วันที่ผ่านมา
Have you ever heard of this one? If you've played A Line in the Sand I'd love to hear some experiences you've had playing in the comments below! I really enjoy pretty much everything this game has to offer, and even in the modern day I think its still competitive with other games on the market. Not only with its simple and fun gameplay, but also extremely approachable second hand price-tag. Joi...

My Customized Ancient Army's (THE MOST EXPENSIVE GAME OF CONQUEST OF THE EMPIRE EVER!?)
Started playing games with minis, but after exposure to more traditional wargames, I prefer counters to miniatures. They're just more intuitive and they can be stacked on top of each other.
Definitely, I much more like minis with simple games like risk or Axis and Allies where units simply "attack roll at 3" etc. But if you want any kind of depth and ease of telling units apart quickly, counters are the way to go.
nice map sir well done love the improv
Where is the sovereign state of Palestine 🇵🇸
That's a nice improvement! 👍
Amazing work!
Great custom map I think I definitely like yours better. I’ve never heard of this game before but maybe I will look into it.
I played the PC version of this game produced by SSI.
We had that game when I was growing up. I always wanted to play it but couldn't get anyone to play it with me.
I had this game. Only played a couple of times though.
Proud owner of this, sad to say I've never found people to play it. Great idea for a game, especially the full diplomacy version. Cool to see it get a review from you!
I've never seen this one. Interesting. I was in college in '91 watching Desert Storm play out live. Good review Cobra.
First I've heard of this game... Wow
Table Tactics made Central Powers and A New World Order.
One suggestion I would make is Serbia not being neutral. It was after all sort of the spark that ignites the war. They should be on Russia's team maybe. Cool idea though!
The Central Alliance (Austria-Hungary component) has a requirement to attack Serbia on turn one, thus the Entente can choose which nation they want to align its forces to. Starting Serbia as non-Russian was done to not contradict the Russian Revolution rules, which prohibit movement into all starting Russian territories.
What pieces are you using. At 3:04 the us battleship. What game is that from?
Many of my WW1 pieces I designed and 3D printed myself.
@@CobraWargaming COOL! What software did you use? Was it hard?
@@OliverLaskoski thanks, yeah I made them all a few years back on a program called rino. Really advanced learning curb and kinda spendy but I was in a class for it. Recently, there's been a few times I needed some extra units so I've been using tinkerCAD, it's free and really easy to learn, you can only work with basic shapes but I've been able to make some nice looking models with it. It helps that A&A units are at such a small scale to hide any mistakes
@@CobraWargaming i tried us8ng tinkercad but it was really hard to do anything. I'm using a tablet though so maybe it's easier on a computer?
@@CobraWargaming Have you published your models anywhere? I'd love to paint a few for myself
Wow
It seems amazing!
I need it
Sir?? How i can contact u?? I want discuss about it..
you can email me at cobrawargaming@gmail.com
Clever,... good looking map sir
Cool
Nice sir...
Truly a labor of love! High five!
Just when I thought you can't beat classic coke - you have. 🍺
Dude, that looks nice. Classic map art is soo 80s. Classic 3°edition rules, as seen in the pc version, add so much fun. But to the grain, could you made the xeno game map in this art style? Company is no more, they release the game files for free. Note: i have 2 complaints to the original map, 1 some territory names 2 pasific island and territories without IPC values. Same with xeno games, some area names are 😢.
Love these projects, great work! But sorry for asking if this puts pressure but when will the powderkeg be available for purchase
No problem, I want it released as much as you do! Now that the heavy lifting of creating it is done, I'm just trying to secure a distributor. I really want to have it available for purchase by December. I'll be releasing needed units charts soon on my Patreon page so people can start building their armys.
It's even got convoy lines! Love it!
I tink if you added Italy this would be the ultimate axis and allies game
As much as I wanted to add Italy, I wanted to keep the 5 player original theme of the game. Once it was finished though, I realized that China and France are controlled by USA and Britain respectivly, so I probably could have incorporated italy too. Always room for a second edition....😉
I really like the unit silluette/icons on the combat chart. Where did you find them? Im creating a board game as well and I was looking to find some unit icons exactly lie these! ANyways great video as always.
Thanks! I usually find an image I want to use and then draw over it in Photoshop to create the black silhouette version of it. Good luck on your project.
@@CobraWargaming Thanks for the response! What software did You use for making these icons and the map? I want to make a map in the same style as yours
@@Walmartbagoff I use Photoshop mostly, but GIMP is another software I use that's free and is tuned for map making
beautiful will this be purchasable?
The red faction is clearly 10th to 13th century Byzantines, the two-headed eagle, the Varangian guard infantry unit, the archers with the Kairouan style helmets, and the Roman style catapults.
I just need this game to be back in stock and a bank loan to buy it
Nice sir
How u make it sir??
Where u buy it??
Where I can get this game????
Nice sir
Orange looks Byzantine to me.

Cobra Wargaming: The revival
for real
Are river monitors in the territory or in the river? How do they work exactly?
They can exist in land zones that boarder a river and move along territories adjacent to a continuous river. Heres an excerpt from the rulebook: "Similar to an armored train on rails, monitors can move unlimited spaces along friendly controlled territories boarding continuous rivers if it starts it’s turn in a river. If a monitor starts the turn in a sea zone, it may only move up to its movement value through sea zones and/or into a territory/s with a river that connects to a sea zone it was in or was moved into. Monitors are considered to be in the territory adjacent to the river they exist in, and are moved from adjacent territory to territory that touches the river. Monitors may only move through sea zones that contain islands or adjacent land territories and may never enter open ocean." They are a bit complicated due to rivers always forming boarders. But in short, they are a land unit that can only exist in land zones that have river territories.
Where can you get that map?
it will be available for purchase online in the coming months, retailer to be determined.
Amazing … has the rule book been finished? I would like to make an expansion rule set
Where have you been for the past year!? Welcome back!!
Very busy! And trying to get this game finished for good
I just printed this game, can’t wait to give it to go! Will definitely be posting videos on my other Channel
