Some Loosely Connected ideas (freeform progressions)
This is a little different from what I usually do. It's a more 'loose' composition with less of a focus on driving a main idea than my other works I guess. But I think it's fun to listen to so I'm giving it a chance. Let me know if this sort of more lighthearted music is interesting. I will definitely not be focusing on this sort of content in the future. I still want to stick to uploading fleshed out works with motifs and larger arrangements... Enjoy!

Hello everyone. I'm proud to finally release this :). The entire project is in a strange time signature, 15/4. And it's based on something I like to diddle on the piano often, though it certainly came into its own as I added more things to it. It has a certain 'special' feeling to me that I have trouble putting my finger on... And so naming it was very difficult. I felt happy with synchroniciti...

      thanks!! that means a lot xD...I will say music is definitely the sort of thing that comes to you the more you seek it...As long as you strive for it you can get there. There are a lot of hurdles that seem impossible but they can ALL be overcome through persistent practice :) As much progress as I've made, I don't think I've actually achieved true proficiency with music yet (that goes to someone like Azali IMO). My songs are getting harder for me to conceptualize, in that I'm having a harder time getting them started it seems, and my hiatuses don't really help...they force me to have to kind of 'figure out' music again. Which is why I make the point of persistent practice... :P And you know speaking of practice, I think I'd be open to helping you learn everything I know about FL studio or LMMS if you really are interested in music (and for being a long time subscriber why not! lol), I act like I'm self taught but the truth is I wouldn't be where I am now if it weren't for the feedback and guidance of others, however provisional it has been...

    • @stonethemason12
      @stonethemason12 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad you like it!!. It's funny you commented here right as I was opening up cosmic burnout again. I haven't put much work into it yet aside from processing the distortion guitar stem. I started to realize it might be a bigger project than I thought. But I will do it...er...someday...I will, lol. you can count on it. for sure. As for the saxophone... it is actually a soundfont patch from the largest soundfont I am aware exists. The Dsoundfont Ultimate. Most players cannot even load it, since it is over 3GB (of pure soundfont awesomeness). I had to download an app called Bassmidivsti, in order to load it. It's a dedicated (albeit old) soundfont plugin with nice built in effects including reverb tone pitch, and chorus. I recommend giving it a whirl even if you don't intend to get the Dsoundfont. It might load sf2 files properly or more consistently with less glitches overall... it's important to note (you may have or probably noticed) that the saxophone is layered with a nice jazz trumpet. Which is ALSO a soundfont patch. From the Orpheus_18 soundfont. This trumpet actually blends perfectly with lots of brass samples, particularly certain types of saxophones and creates a seamless 'small ensemble' effect that I love to use when its called for.

      @@stonethemason12 So it's a soundfont called Dsoundfont Ultimate. Just tried it out right now on Reaper and it loaded pretty much fine on juicysfplugin (my current go-to soundfont player VST plugin), since it's pretty huge, Reaper already occupies about 5GB or RAM lol with the juicysfplugin instance and my custom Reaper rough piano sketch template for new projects, though this might still be nothing compared to the professional-grade VSTs for orchestra and acoustic instruments, (e.g. Eastwest, Vienna Symphonic Library, Shreddage, a lot of known Kontakt libraries). I heard you'd need at least 32GB or even 64GB of RAM to be able to make up a full orchestral arrangement with multiple instances of those expensive VSTs, at least that's what I heard at least from film score composers/arrangers (should be similar for VGM as well). One composer I follow (Hayato Asano, composer of Atelier Ryza and Blue Reflection) seems to have 128GB of RAM on his PC and he uses all the top-grade VSTs you know from professional composers, such as Keyscape, Pianoteq, Addictive Keys, etc. which have a lot of samples and patches stored, and his music can feature a lot of flourishes and large number of tracks full of various VSTs, which can quickly add up. Also I'm glad you're interested in Cosmic Burnout, though that one was made during my "Sakuraba obsession" phase, now I moved away from Sakuraba lately and focus on multiple other composers' styles, which I think helped me improve my music much more. As much as I love Sakuraba's music, there are currently other composers/artists that I specifically find to be doing better at mixing music or making VSTi arrangments. Sakuraba is great at the improvisational and artistic side, while other composers I follow are better on the technical and arrangement side. EDIT: What I meant by "still be nothing", is the amount of RAM used for a single professional-grade VST made by Eastwest, Native Instruments, Spitfire etc. which have a lot of samples for all sorts of articulations for a specific instrument (e.g. violin, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, oboe, saxophone, piano, etc.), as well as the overall flexibility for expression in terms of articulations and MIDI CC events (expression, breath, dynamics, etc.). 4GB is indeed an enormous amount for a soundfont, indeed Dsoundfont Ultimate might be the largest soundfont file I've found so far, but it's still a ton of varied instrument patches stored within those 4GB (I don't know how juicysfplugin works with RAM storage, I think it just loads all the included samples into RAM when you open a soundfont file, and probably older soundfont players, particularly 32-bit plugins might not work well with such large sizes, fortunately juicysfplugin is pretty recent and has a VST3 version which I use by default for anything soundfont-related nowadays). I'll play with the soundfont later tomorrow, from a first glace it definitely seems to be rather high quality in terms of samples for a soundfont (which usually host samples from old romplers/hardware modules made by Yamaha, Roland, Korg, etc.).

      @stonethemason12 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@deathvine_68000 haha im not entirely sure what to touch on here. I appreciate the long comment a lot. And it has pointed me in the direction of some potential new tools, such as juicysfplugin. I didn't realize there were any 'relatively new' soundfont players around. I also actually follow hayato asano (i assumed it was a girl for some reason) on soundcloud. I love Day broke and the dancing cranes a lot. I had no idea they were involved with such big titles. And I think my laptop has only a fairly standard 16GB of RAM, looks like i need to look into finding more someday...I sure hope it's upgradable lol. An instrument you might be interested in also, is pro soloist by cherry audio. They have a lot of really nice sounding virtual analog synthesizers I think you could take advantage of. and not TOO expensive. Pro soloist being $50 or so.

    • @stonethemason12
      @stonethemason12 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      YO DEATHVINE! So it is a VST simply called Organ by AIR Music Technology...I got it while it was on sale at plugin boutique for 20. It is unfortunately around 80-100 otherwise. I might consider looking into other organ plugins to weigh your options. Since Motoi Sakuraba is known for his piano playing as well, you might be interested in EZKeys by Toontrack. Which has a pretty excellent Hammond B3 extension(you just need the piano first unfortunately) Altogether though it'd run you around 270 plus tax. And I'm not sure if LMMS would be able to load it since i dont think LMMS has VST3. I figured it's something you might be interested in investing in either way though. I might consider switching to Reaper someday...Since it is a more complete daw than LMMS and also free...and after all your name is DEATHVINE ... ;O _ O Damn I think it's meant to be when I put it like that-

    • @deathvine_68000
      @deathvine_68000 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stonethemason12 Thanks, so it's AIR Organ. There seem to be a lot of piano VSTs (I know Hayato Asano for example uses Pianoteq and Keyscape for piano IIRC from his Cubase livestreams). Don't worry, I've moved to Reaper (way better than LMMS and can do more stuff with samples and keybinds), so VST3 is not a problem at all. Also I've distanced myself from Sakuraba these past few years recently to get mixing and musical inspiration from other composers. (recently I really like Takahiro Unisuga, Hayato Asano, Yousuke Yasui and Manabu Namiki). I have to say I honestly like Unisuga's and Namiki's overall mixing and arrangement quality better than Sakuraba (tho Sakuraba still wins in terms of improvisational talent and skillful use of odd time signatures), it's good to get inspired by as many artists as possible.
